It's funny, my girlfriend has a friend who married a Muslim and she's the one who is obligated to not look men in the eyes. She also can't greet men with two kisses on the cheek (it's how we do it) but only handshakes are allowed.

You are not supposed to look at a woman's face if they belong to another man. If you do he has the legal right to beat the fuck out of you. This was how it was when I was in the UAE.
