I feel that being an adult means shedding the habits of childhood, video games, ghost stories, and fairy tales (Religion, and new age forms of it). This growing industry made $46.1 billion in 2014(http://www.statista.com/statistics/23718...s-revenue/). Plenty of adults play them; but, is there point to where you have to say to yourself this is a stupid activity which drains my bank account? My point came to when I looked the cost of a console, accessory's and software. I was spending kind of a lot of money on these items. Fighting a dragon, playing a solider in a Geo-political war, or a super solder who fight's aliens. I grew up on them, and sold everything two years ago involving video games. Does any one else feel that people over 25 should stop playing video games and grow up?

Im 34 and I love video games
No you are never to old its the misconceptions of people who think video games are a child thing.
Video games in reality are not something for a child at all most video games tend to be adult media. Also a decent walmart computer can play most games that are out nowadays instead of getting a console get a pc personally i have everything so i can play exclusives.

Well, I am a 48 year old woman who plays with my family. I also like games enjoy Skyrim and Destiny.
Video games are just interactive movies where you are the main character. As long as you play in moderation video games are like any other form of recreation.
Lots of people have different hobbies. Some more financially straining than others. Why should video games have an age limit? what is it about video games that we are supposed to stop liking at a certain point in our lives?
It's like birthdays. Why are we expected to stop celebrating them? As if cake and free stuff should lose its appeal after a certain point.

Never too old to rock and roll...
Err... Sorry, wrong thread. No, you can't be too old for video games. Too wound up in the culture maybe, but not too old.

Nope! I am 60 and I still have and play my PS1 and of course my M15x for the new stuff.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Part of being an adult is learning to accept what you enjoy, and not let others pressure you into not enjoying it based solely on arbitrary decisions about what's "mature" relative to your age. I'm 24, I play video games, watch cartoons, even buy the occasional action figure. My determination for the things I like is what's good, not what's appropriate to the sensibilities of some cultural hive mind that I don't necessarily agree with.

In the 80's and 90's when video games were for the most part geared towards children, I could see your point.
But most of the content in video games today is for adults. I couldn't imagine that Rockstar would spend however many millions on developing GTA V if their demographic was 18-25 year old males only. Now, no one should be consistently spending 4+ hours every day playing video games, but I have spent that much time as an adult on weekend playing these games. I couldn't do that every weekend, but I do it every now and again. I think it's all about moderation.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
