I remember exp(i*pi) = -1. That is one of the weirdest facts ever.

Exp(i * x) = cos(x) + i*sin(x)

I remember that, but I don't know what I did 5 minutes ago usually.

In principle these spherical harmonics are a generalization of Sin and Cos when you don't want to describe a linear wave, but one spread over the surface of a sphere.
