Quote:Show me one left wing social democratic government. There is none that dares to have leftist ideas.
Define leftist ideas. The former Portuguese government was the socialist party.
Quote:Apart from Greece maybe, but they're in league with rightwing populists also.
Populism exists in both wings. Marxists, for example, are very populist.
Quote:To hear the right talk about it, left wing and socialist is synonymous.
Incorrect, socialism is far left, but most left wing is not socialist - They're capitalists

Oh say can you see, --- that you are an oligarchy?

I assume here that most Americans are bright enough to know that they live in an oligarchy and not a democracy.
Do you believe that redistribution of wealth from the top to the bottom of the U.S. socio economic demographic pyramid is a good idea or a bad idea?
Do you think the American oligarchy can be turned back into a real democracy where the poor are considered instead of ignored, if not abused?
Poverty is the worst form of Violence. Mahatma Gandhi
Do you think that we can persuade our owners to stop their violence against the poor?
Which of our oligarchs would you say is the King of the U.S.A.
Should the U.S. government find its balls and ask its King to stop abusing the poor?
Regards

You don't have a king.
You have a queen.

The right wing being wrong about something? Say it isn't so!
There are mistakes on both sides. There is intolerance and misinterpretation on both sides. Personally, I try to look at the argument or measure without thinking about who's proposing it.
If we're talking about the top 1% it is ignorant to think only conservatives benefit the former, both the right and the left satisfy lobby interests. As an outsider, Obama looks corporate friendly to me, and he is "liberal"
