Topics that can not be discussed...
March 11, 2015 at 7:48 am
...at the christian forum site.
Just seen this new thread over at CFS on one of my occasional forays. There is so much bollocks here, I don't know where to start so I thought I best present it to the experts. Soul sleep? WTF!
"The following is a list of topics which may not be debated, EVER.
The threads degenerate quickly and NOTHING is ever decided.
A new Member may ask a question, but the answer may not become debate and should not go beyond 2 pages.
If a Member wishes to see what discussions have appeared, please use the Search function.
The topics are:
Once Saved, Always Saved (OSAS)
Speaking in Tongues - (either Pentacostal, unknown, or foreign but known language)
Homosexuality (This topic has ALWAYS degenerated into attacks on the sinner. It's OK to call homosexuality - the sin - an abomination, but NOT the sinner)
Predestination, Calvinism or Arminianism - (or any variations.)
Soul Sleep - (any variant or any viewpoint.)
Deviant behavior (If you have a question, PM the Mods. Staff decisions will be final)"

Uh. What the fuck is "Soul Sleep"?
EDIT: Apparently:
Quote: Christian mortalism incorporates the belief that the human soul is not naturally immortal; and may include the belief that the soul is uncomprehending during the time between bodily death and Judgment Day resurrection, known as the intermediate state. "Soul sleep" is an often pejorative term so the more neutral term "materialism" was also used in the nineteenth century, and "Christian mortalism" since the 1970s.
Toss another insane shrimp on the apologetics barbecue I guess.

Have they banned discussion on the fact that the first penis in Mary's vagina was her son's?

Why would you go there at all?
When I disagree with people running a website, I remember that they pay the bills, so they get to call the shots, therefore, my course is -
silence or goodbye.
Seems fair to me.
So what is the deal?

Some Christians believe that dead souls don't immediately go to heaven but remain unconscious until Jesus' resurrections. Believe it or not, people get very heated when debating such trivial details of their faith.
I think that it is interesting that even in a discussion with people who all agree that homosexuality is a sin that there are still arguments over it. Apparently, those arguments were so heated that the moderators on that site had to ban discussion
Some Christians get very upset with each other over very small theological differences.
For those who don't know, Once Saved, Always Saved(OSAS) is the belief that a person can not lose their salvation. It is why some Christians deny that atheists ever belonged to their faith. Admitting that someone could lose faith destroys one of the pillars of how they interpret their religion. Not all Christians believe in OSAS so there will be argument over it.
Yes, Prof, the forum can make its own rules. No one here is suggesting that they make changes but we can discuss those rules.

We should have that too, here! I'll start with some basics -
Topics that may never be discussed at AF:
1) Feeding behaviour of the lesser southern pigweasel.
2) Are you a cat or dog person?
3) Richard Dawkins shipping fanfic
4) The quran has all the physics
5) ....
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

So what is the deal? No deal, to coin a phrase I saw on this forum it's just for shits 'n giggles.
Why do you come here? Is it exclusively theists on atheist sites but not the other way?

Theist forums do tend to be a lot more restrictive than other forums, though equally places like A+ are arguably just as restrictive.
I think even the theist members here would agree that generally we're pretty liberal when it comes to members.

It's amazingly liberal to theists. I'm amazed the amount of complete horrific shite they can say and be allowed to stay. The ignore feature takes care of it though. It's all cool by me.

If this forum here were as restrictive against theist opinions as they are the other way around, I'd be out of here quicker than a t quark decay.
