How do I avoid the ban hammer? I pretend to be one of them. Now that sounds boring but it can be fun if you do it right. It doesn't take much to upset them. The trick is to argue theology and not Atheism. I have upset several of them to the point that they get banned for getting angry and breaking the rules.

It's so easy to be a better xtian than someone else on these forums.
You could also pretend to be a fideist Christian arguing that you can't know God through reason but only faith and faith can't be justified by reason. You could undercut so many arguments for believing that way. You could also argue for Skeptical theism(that we can't know what God's motives are and can't know if God's action are good).

Just a small thread to find out your opinions about how atheists or agnostics would be treated on religious forums. I have never been a member of any particular religious forum, and to be honest, this is a first for me being on here; a none theistic forum. I find that the tolerance level of religious pretty good and there is a great deal of banter to be had.

So, have any of you ever experienced the same sort of tolerances towards the fact that you maybe atheist, anti-theist, agnostic etc on a religious forum, or have you been banned because of your views? I would like to add a poll but it seems that I cannot. However, if someone can, then I would like the options to be the types of religious forums i.e. Protestant, Catholic, Mormon, baptist, Islam, Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist etc etc.

Many thanks in advance.

Everytime I try to access Reasonable Faith forum (even as a guest), I get the following:

Sorry Guest, you are banned from using this forum!
Spam/Foul language
This ban is not set to expire.

Really extreme if you ask me. I still don't know exactly what I did to get banned. The only time I said something foul was when a theist called humans assholes for something (forgot what) then I responded that God must be an asshole then for the same reason. And that was long before I got banned.

Spam? I have no idea what they mean by that.

It's worst than that. If skeptical theism is correct we would have no way of knowing if God was good or evil and we wouldn't know what good and evil is.

RE: Atheists on religious forums
Well, I would never go to a religious forum unless it specifically allowed atheists and people from other religions. If they are looking to defend their beliefs, then I would be happy to debate an entire forum of religious people. Big Grin

When I was on my great exploration of faith a few years ago... I joined many forums from Catholic to Baha'i.. I would get into some good convo's but then would click on a politics or moral section and get so angry. I would calm down and put my view of them and then be slammed so fast it was unreal. I avoid them like the plague even viewing a post or two on those forums.. Makes me wanna puke.

Depends on where you go, in most cases (or at least in my experience) even the most vanilla of statements that interrupts the echo chamber's chanting is met with the banhammer.

I still fail to see the point of joining a religious forum. I'm not into trolling and I'm not in the missionary business either. Given that most of the so called christian forums bath in their ignorance of the real world and science, it woud be a pointless endeavor anyway.
