I never go to religious forums as there I would be the troll. I stay here, maintain the moral high ground, and blast the fucks when they wander into my sights.

The Christians on the forums I've joined in the past get very angry and usually ban those who challenge them to participate in the sometimes painful activity called "thinking"

Funny how quickly you get banned for sexism/promotion of violence/etc.

Atheists on religious forums
I have been a member of a xtian forum for quite a while. Ive been warned a few times but never banned.

How do I avoid the ban hammer? I pretend to be one of them. Now that sounds boring but it can be fun if you do it right. It doesn't take much to upset them. The trick is to argue theology and not Atheism. I have upset several of them to the point that they get banned for getting angry and breaking the rules.

It's so easy to be a better xtian than someone else on these forums.

It's actually very interesting you should bring this up. There is a group of over 6000 members on Facebook called Progressive Christians, of which I am one of a handful of atheist members.
I don't post much, but when I have posted, I have been treated with kindness and fairness. Most Pxians are very open to other points of views. The group is run fairly and they quash any heated arguments by locking down a post until everyone has had a chance to cool off, then it is re-opened for discussion. All in all, a nice group of people.

My experience is that it can fucking hilarious. However most will ban you very quickly.

I've belonged to a couple. One I joined for honest discussion, and got banned pretty quickly -- no cussing or disrespect, simply making polite points. The other I joined at the behest of a Christian member of TAF who invited me over there. I didn't look for debate, didn't hide my atheism, and while I had the occasional run-in with someone butthurt that atheists even exist, I didn't get banned.

I've only ever joined one theistic form: worthychristianforums. That place is a hole. They will let nonbelievers join so long as they are seeking to become Christian. Anything else, and you will be flat-out banned. They got creative on interpreting their ToS so they could give me a soft ban (I'm still a member, but I cannot post).

I've joined three different religious groups on Facebook. Two of them a bunch of Christian members would get quite rude and abusive in their posting. A few nice ones would engage civilly, but the majority of the posters just wouldn't join in on such threads. The third group is explicitly meant to be civil. It seems to be roughly a 50-50 split in theist/atheist posters. So far, the only rude one is Christian, although, it's an admittedly small sample size.


If you want to post in a religious forum, you need to do two thing:
1) Find a place that allows non-believers as part of their rules, and
2) don't take anything seriously. You will be accused of being a Darwinist who has no morals and believes that everything came from nothing. It gets kind of old when everyone thinks they're busting that out to you for the first time.
