He didn't. This is just some lawyer proposing a bill. Apparently, all it takes to propose a bill in California is $200.

It isn't a bill which is something that would need to voted on by the state legislature and signed by the governor but a ballot initiative. A ballot initiative is a method of bypassing the legislature and go directly to the people for a vote on a law or constitutional amendment. Now that fucktard has filed the forms and paid the $200 he still needs to collect 365,000 signatures before his proposed law can appear on a ballot and be voted on. While I'd like to think that can never happen it isn't as far fetched as it might seem. 365,000 signatures is less than 1% of the population of California. It is also less than 5% of of the people that voted for proposition 8 when California voters approved that amendment to the state constitution.

It does seem that the louder you are in speaking out against gays, and saying it's a choice, the more likely you are to be trying to convince yourself.

I'd say it's a reasonable conclusion, that people who consider gay sex a "choice" - consider it an option. Meaning - they must feel the need for some hardcore man-on-man, or hot lesbo action, only they consciously suppress it. Maybe they're bisexual, or maybe they just force themselves to have sex with people who they're not attracted to. Maybe they're simply confused about their own gender and sexuality and have to follow specific instructions regarding what to put where...

Personally - I couldn't imagine "choosing" to be gay, therefore I'm inclined to believe, that gay people feel the same about heterosexuality. Which is why they risk ridicule, alienation and violence from militant heterosexuals - by breaking society's sexual stereotypes, instead of conforming to them, which would seem like an obvious choice, if sexuality was a choice.

Maybe they think hetero is a choice. It's the right choice, because it's the one that makes women pregnant, and the bible says homo is bad. It all comes down to ignorance, really, and unfortunately some people are willfully ignorant.

To be honest I am willing to bet a lot that the most outspoken and extreme homophobes -- and I think we need to make a distinction here between ignorant christers who just follow what the pastor told them and clinically obsessed hate-spewing maniacs -- are experiencing same-sex attractions themselves and are having trouble coming to terms with them, be it because of their religion, upbringing, environment or any other factor. It's not so much directed at the LGBT community, but at their own sexuality itself. It's an inner battle manifesting itself on the outside.

Speaking from personal experience, at the time I had most difficulties dealing with my sexuality, I resented LGBT individuals. Having experienced self-hatred and lack of acceptance myself, I can't help but feel sorry for those people. It's a terrible mindset to have. This, of course, doesn't justify the atrocious things they say. It just gives a little insight into what might cause this behavior.

Seems common enough in the dictatorship type governments when even loyalists and the party faithful get purged, yet we don't see too much in the Christer orbit about 'purifying' the movement and immolating the slackers in their midst, do we ??

Seems like God would be really happy to see a few sneaky menstruating women in the local Baptist franchise marched out to the parking lot next Sunday and incinerated with charcoal lighter fluid (as an example to the rest), but damn, you never hear about that sort of thing happening, ever.
