It's a cross species love affair without sex, well, provided you don't live in the middle east..

The discoveries they made are really inspiring and humbling, since the dog brain uses the exact same emotional centers as the human brain under similar conditions. They also investigated eye movement and discovered that dogs assess humans and other dogs in the same way we do when meeting someone.

Not to derail here, but I've been having some issues lately with my cats regarding this, specifically their little feline mental health since I'm gone all day, home for a few hours every night before I go unconscious in bed... I've just been worrying about how happy they are and if they're getting enough stimulation in the few hours I'm home.

It's getting to the time of year when it's light enough for me to take them on walks when I get home from work, though, so their lives get a little more exciting in the spring/summer/fall than they are during the dark, dreary winters.

Anyway, back on track here:

That is a good question. No answer to that one yet.

Doubtless.

Anyway, the doctor is due in for his rounds in a few hours. Techs told us this morning that he is up and alert although not eating much - meh, who likes hospital food. He'll eat when he gets home.

We're leaving to go get him in a half hour. Somebody pick up the Fundie-bashing baton while I'm out.

He's home. Ate a bit...not happy wearing the collar. Life sucks but he'll get used to it.

He has a cone on?

Tanner had a cone once when he had an ear infection. I felt so bad for him but it was really hard not to laugh...

My dog hates the cone of shame too! She had to wear it for a while after she went ape shit in the garden and managed to rip one of her toe nails out.

No, it's a soft pillow type that sticks straight out. If he had horns he'd look like a triceratops.

Ah that's not so bad then. Opal nearly takes our knee caps off when she has a cone.

Cone technology has advanced so much...
