I read the FAQ on the satanist website and what I got out of it was essentially "lack of belief." Anything extra is purely a choice and not a part of the core Satanist philosophy.
If that were true, LV Satanism would be a completely redundant invention, since there already was atheism. So either you missed something there or LV satanism is a useless word. Ask them, they will tell you whether your impression is correct.

I don't think he's the slightest bit interested in learning anything. He seems to already know enough about Satanism to be able to realize the difference, yet refuses to admit it. And if he won't click on a link I give him but instead insists I haven't said anything, then what can I do?

To clarify what I've said to everyone, atheism is only a "group" in as far as there are people who are atheists, and you could decide to refer to them as a "group" for convenience. They are not a group in the sense that they have agreed to a lot of specific rules, or get together for a particular purpose other than having that one thing in common. There is no membership ritual or criteria besides the fact of just being an atheist.
Everything is a "group" in some sense of the word, that doesn't mean everything is the same as everything else.
Of course, why am I even saying this? I'll get back to licking Satan's balls now.

Nobody who isn't a satanist cares in anyway about Satanism. Atheists =/= satanists by default.
