Define Marriage

RE: Define Marriage
A union between consenting adults. Not that the most common biblical marriage was one man and one woman.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

RE: Define Marriage
Marriage is a meaningless social construct anyway. What does it mean? Not much.

It means healthy indulgence of the urge to go to the strip joint can put half of what you own at risk.

If that were the case you married the wrong person. A good wife would go to the strip club with you.

Yes, a good wife would do that.  A great wife would be up there working the pole.

One would also expect Christians not to divorce if Mark 10:9 was taken as seriously as the passages invoked to discriminate against homosexuals, but we all know what reality demonstrates in this regard. I wonder if proper Christian bakers are as passionate about not baking cakes for those Christian divorcees that are remarrying?

You make an excellent point.  I've never understood the sanctity of marriage argument when those that divorce and remarry are violating those tenants.  It's very hypocritical to hold firm on some portions and ignore others.  To me 2 people of the same gender who remain devoted and loyal to each other hold more true to the intended spirit of marriage than heterosexual individuals who do not hold true to their vows.

There's a broader issue with the "sanctity of marriage" crap: it's a breathtakingly selfish proposition. Seriously, think about what it's saying: "I find marriage to be sacred, and therefore since I think that, you should all bend to my opinions of marriage and do what I want."

I mean, it's one thing to say that marriage is sacred to you, but factually we know it didn't originate with god, making it little more than an opinion held by a select group of people that we can demonstrate to be non-factual. It takes a hell of a lot of cojones to then assert that this opinion is therefore binding, to everyone else, because of the demonstrably misplaced authority being placed in it.

And an amazing wife would be the club owner! Am I playing this right?
