Game of Thrones Season 5 Discussion [SPOILERS WITHIN]

My family is playing it together. We take turns being the character but everyone shouts out what to do. We just finished the third game.  I will say that the end of the first game was a kick in the gut and not what I expected

Her story line is seems one of the least vital.  Of course, I could turn out to be wrong but I don't see how she is likely to figure in.
I've read speculation somewhere that she could be the same bloodline as Jon but I can't see how we wouldn't know that already.

I heard of a once dream by George where the song of ice and fire would just be a trilogy... it had a few defences from what the song ended up being, so I hope I won't spoil: in that alternate timeline, L+R=J and, following the blondies' tradition, J marries his cousin, Arya... That's why they're so close at the start.

Heh, actually the first book of the series was completed while he was still working to make it a trilogy. Due to this, the amount of foreshadowing and prophecy and symbolism chocked full in the first book is so high you can see the threads that eventually play out in the next 4.

So, any bets on weather Dany has greyscale now? I'm not exactly clear on how it's contracted. Forget how in the books.
In the show, Jorah says you can get it just from touch..but that doesn't mean you MUST get it if you are touched He handles Dany with both his bare hands on her bare skin. Seems a reckless thing to do.

I mean, we've had like 6 clips of him looking at it on his wrist just in 3 episodes. There must be some point to him getting it and then constantly reminding us that he has it, and then touching Dany a bunch with his hands. Thw whole time I was watching him do it, I was thinking, is he infecting her on purpose? He isn't that dumb...he told Tyrion not to touch people with greyscale at all.

Nah, it seems like Greyscale can only be transmitted through direct contact with the infection itself. I mean, Jorah must've at some point brushed skin-to-skin with Tyrion while rescuing him from underwater, and he's fine. As far as the Stone Men go...their entire body is the infection, so any contact with them would spread it.

The point of the Greyscale is that it gives Jorah an inescapable death sentence, which means that he really has nothing to lose in his pursuit of serving Dany and seeing her on the throne. I believe the emphasis of Dany taking his hand is meant to be that she's accepting him back into her circle, at least a little bit.

WEll yeah, I get the point of her taking his hand, and the fact that he has nothing to lose.  But honestly, he had nothing to lose even before he was infected (he's banished everywhere, old and would already die for her) so it adds nothing to his nothing to lose story.

Where did someone say you have to contact the infected part of a person?  How did Shireen get it as a baby, then?  Jorah has not touched anyone with a bare hand since he got infected, including Tyrion.

Does Jorah know exactly how grayscale is transmitted and that's the only way?  If so, he never said that.  It's a highly contagous, deadly disease that you get from touching an infected person.  That's what we, as TV watcher know.  It seems a lot like leprosy.

It just seems pretty cavelier to touch Dany with a part of his body maybe one inch from his infected bit (and it's spreading) if he's not 100% sure he can't pass it on to her.

It's pretty unclear in the show how exactly Shireen's doll infected her (skin cells all over the doll? The virus/bacteria living on the doll for a short time after being handled by infected skin?), but it's implied that the infected area is the area that transmits the disease because they keep showing that specific area of Jorah's wrist and then him covering it up, and I highly doubt he'd be so touchy with anyone if he thought he could give them greyscale.

Dany doesn't get Greyscale.

Ok, looking it up, the TV lore (not the books):

Greyscale (Game Of Thrones TV Show

"Stannis Baratheon explains to his daughter Shireen how she contracted greyscale as an infant, from an infected doll that he bought from a passing merchant ship from Dorne. By the time they burned the doll it was too late, and everyone said she would either die from the disease, or worse, live just long enough to become aware of the world before it was taken away from her."

"Greyscale is extremely infectious, spread through touch contact with an infected person, or even spread on unsterilized objects that have been touched by the infected."

So you can catch it from touching an OBJECT touched by an infected person.  So not just the infected part of an infected person.  So...Jorah is a possibly a walking contagion machine.  If he knows even a bit about greyscale (and it sounded like he did when he warned Tyrion about them during that fight), then he shouldn't be going around touching bare skin to anyone he wants to live.

This is either a plot device that will come up later (like maybe Blood of the Dragon is immune or can even cure it), or else the writers are stupid asshats to have Jorah get this highly infectious disease, give us detailed information about how it can be contracted, through Stannis/Shireen storyline, and then pretend Jorah can just go around touching people without possible consequences.
