"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Nvm. The thinking smiley is broken, and when you posted it in this post, it changed to that hotlinking image, which made it look like it was put there on purpose in the context of what you wrote.

I get the feeling they might just to add some dramatic effect and to remind us they are still a looming threat. My housemate seems convinced they're condensing down the "Feast for Crows" book as much as possible. He is pressed about that book, he thinks it's the worst in the series by far haha.

Of course I haven't read that far yet, so this is just going on what he's saying.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

The people that hate that book are missing out on 90% of the plot of the story. It's dry on action, but so much of the intrigue and secondary plots are set up in Feast.

If you're a fan of ASOIAF, A Feast for Crows is one of the best books in the series. It's my second favorite, behind A Storm of Swords.

But, because of the sheer amount of plot and secondary characters, they have to scrap or shorten most of the storylines and combine or remove characters to make it work.

Oh man, this season is varying so much from the books. It's kind of crazy. It does keep me on the edge of my seat though.
