Need some advice

RE: Need some advice
The problem with disconnecting the battery terminal is that the ECU resets. This means it sends the throttle body to factory setting, and if there is any build up on the butterfly valve, (the car is 16 years old) then the car won't suck air correctly without a throttle body adjustment. Which means it won't hold idle. Which means I have to take it to a mechanic with a VAG-COM who can hook it up to his laptop and do said throttle body adjustment to the tune of $275.

I have tried to find the current draw with my multimeter. It takes so long for whatever the problem is to kill a battery that I'm afraid maybe my ammeter isn't sensitive enough.

I don't know much about cars, but that Subaru sounds like it's been rode hard and put up wet. It may be time for a new car; just not sure the Subaru is the one.

Start doing your homework for the Audi's replacement. You have a little time to work with, so you don't have to pull the trigger on a car you're not sure of. Be patient, nurse the Audi along, but make sure you structure your finances such that when a good deal comes up you can hit it quickly.

That's what I've decided to do.

The devil you know. I know that the problem with the Audi is a ways off. I am just going to keep my eye on the market. I'll put a little more cash away and get a newer car that has more time left on the clock.

I appreciate all you guys' input.
