Wow, my name has much more boring origins.
Aurora is the name of the small farming town I was born in. It is also the name of my favorite Disney Princess as a kid. That spelling is nearly always taken, so I use Aroura for my screen name often, for games and forums. I've been using it for 20 years! I'm still a fan of Sleeping Beauty because the art in that cartoon is the best of all the classic cartoons, and the classical singing is beautiful too, but I've not yet outgrown my love of Disney cartoon, despite their often outdated messages to women. You'd think I would, considering I'm a woman over 40 now.

My first name is at the other end of the alphabet from z and I am (or was when I started using the name) anything but fat

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!
This is the first forum I've belonged to since, like, '98, so I didn't have a screen name. I usually go by "Lag" as a gamer tag, but 1) I didn't want people to recognize me, and 2) I thought this place would be strictly religious stuff, so I went with a religious based name. Ex-Christian. Meh.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay." For context, this is the previous verse: "Hi Jesus" -robvalue
I was teaching a couple of young engineers at work on the details of turbomachinery, what to do and what not to do.
They started calling me professor. I needed a name and couldn't think of one I liked, but that came to mind, I used it on other sites and then here. I did have to smile when (after some of my outlandish posts) the AF regulars would say I must not be a real professor. Like the college professors of old time, I profess Christ. I hear that is how the term began.
Haha Prof, you profess a lot of shit.

The Minimalists are a school of biblical historians who think the bible is a pile of shit.
I agree with them. (April 25, 2015 at 12:39 pm)vorlon13 Wrote: i wasn't allowed to use mine at another site At the Star Trek forums?

Abaris is from celtic mythology. A legendary druid who supposedly travelled to Greece to study with Pythagoras.
In real life the name has been with me since my pen and paper days in the mid 80ies. It was the name of the character I played and it's my nick on most boards I frequent.
I think this is the fifth time I explain this on this forum...
There is a common portuguese expression that, when written with all the letters goes like this "para o caraças", however, you can shorten it to "p'ó caraças", remove spaces, accents and cedillas and you get the ASCII friendly "pocaracas". What does it mean? at the time, I was testing usernames on a portuguese forum with combinations of my name and acronyms... non worked, as I do have one of the most common first and last names around here... so I yelled that expression at the screen, in desperation... meaning something like "screw you" or "up yours" or "the hell with this shit"... there really is no literal translation of the word "caraças"... at least, none that I'm aware of. |
