Black People - Stop Blaming Racism, Take Responsibility
#51
RE: Black People - Stop Blaming Racism, Take Responsibility
Dystopia, you're doing it again, you're misinterpreting what he is saying to a ridiculous degree. The title, says to stop blaming racism, not to stop complaining about it. You've done this to me in the past too, you've misreprested my position so many times that I did what Napoleon did and just stopped trying to engage in a discussion with you.

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

No.

Just no.

Is that what the thread title says?

No.

It says "Stop blaming racism". In other words, using it as an excuse. That doesn't mean racism isn't an issue. It doesn't mean people shouldn't complain. It just means it isn't an excuse for doing bad things. Guy in the OP said as much. But you thought it was a waste of time. Surprising, you wouldn't just watch a 5 minute video but are intent on wasting so much time talking about stuff irrelevant to the point.

I really don't know how much clearer you want me to make it.

Quote:yet you acknowledged that racism and institutional racism/discrimination still exists and it is either a cause of drawbacks/difficulties or was in the past and the secondary effects are still felt today... And you are saying that blacks should handle racism and not protest against it?

No! That's not what I've said. Please quote where you think I've said this. Because I just plain haven't.

Quite honestly I don't know what else I can say to be much clearer. I've said in multiple posts what my point is. I've already brought up at least twice, a quote that sums up my position, in relation to a specific scenario (Baltimore). If you don't get it by now you may as well not respond. Because if I get one more response mentioning that I'm telling black people not to complain, or that I don't think racism is the cause of issues, then you're flat out misinterpreting any point I've made in this thread.

I'll quote it again, one last time, because people still seem to be having such difficulty with it:

"The point is not that the stereotypes or discrimination are justified. But that to the people who already hold these views against various minorities, the looting and rioting only serve to deepen their conviction. The whole "unarmed black man" storyline gets lost when people are assaulting firemen and cutting firehose lines."

Quote:How does this work? If someone shot you in the foot would you run 10Km or would you ask for medical support before doing it? Thinking

Facepalm

For someone who rants on about the complexity of the issue it's rather surprising you'd use such a stupid analogy as this as though it is in any way similar or relevant to what we're (or should I say I'm) talking about.

Quote:Oh shit, you invented things I didn't even say and now I'm the one misinterpreting it? Suit yourself, I won't take it personally

Ha! Don't flatter yourself.

Inventing things people didn't say?

Let's see (just because I'm a dick and I will go that far to defend myself):

Post 49 - You accuse me of "saying that blacks should handle racism and not protest against it"

Nope. Didn't say that.

Post 42 - Pizza accuses me of insinuating racism is over. "This doesn't mean racism is over."

Nope. Didn't say that either. The OP of this thread flies in the face of such a snarky comment as the guy says the precise opposite.

Post 42 - Pizza insinuates that I have said ghettos and conditions in American weren't caused in some part by slavery. "Where do you think the ghettos in America came from? The sky?"

Yet again, didn't say anything of the sort. But Pizza is intent on making out like I'm some numpty who doesn't acknowledge slavery fucked shit up. Fuck me, right?

Posts 39 and 37 - SummerQueen accuses me of making a false dichotomy, later you echo the same sentiment (I wonder why).

Addressed in post 38, amongst others. Still not seeing any evidence of a false dichotomy.

Post 39 - You reckon I said black people are responsible for the actions of other black people?

Yet again, no, that's not what I said. I said the actions of some black people will reflect on other black people. Does the difference need to be spelled out to you? Oh wait, pretty sure I've already done that. Guess you missed it. I also elaborated on what I meant by attitudes. Something that black people on the whole are responsible for.

Post 25 - I get accused directly by Pizza of assuming all black people to be violent criminals.

Do I even need to address this one? I'm embarrassed someone would even go there.

This one particularly pissed me off. Why? Because you're basically calling me a fucking racist. I find it disgusting frankly how quick people are to make such an accusation.

Then there's all the shit that's just flat out off topic IMO, like crime statistics, or the way slavery went down. Shit that, in regards to what's been mentioned in the OP, and by myself throughout, is besides the point.

So do you want me to go on here? Go back to each post and interpret it as you see fit. Only reason I am being such a dick and bringing each post up (I could bring up more), is because you seem to think I'm the one who's misinterpreted your position. It's the precise opposite man, and it's become way too annoying to be accused of saying bullshit in this thread when I categorically haven't. People can read the above and make up their own minds on that I suppose.

Haha, I'm glad I'm not just imagining it.

Here's a kid who may one day get his ass out of the ghetto and away from a bad environment to make something of his self....because he has a Mom whose going to see that he does! How does looting and burning down a neighborhood advance any cause or issues?

To be fair his mother has sense, she's probably shit scared he'll get shot.

Although I'm white and my mother would react the same tbh. She'd kick my ass all the way back to Bavaria where her family are from lmao

My reaction to the OP was "everything is easy for the man who doesn't have to do it himself."

That's a fair response.

But there are people preaching the same thing who have done it themselves. And how do you know the guy in the OP hasn't done it.

Like I said, it's not impossible, but a lot of people talk like it is and come up with no alternatives other than "what do you expect when people go out rioting". General attitudes in black communities seem to have low expectations of what they can achieve as a people. Ofcourse, that's influenced by the fact there is race discrimination, and prejudice. They find it harder to get jobs no doubt, but like I've said before, having attitudes like that, and mentalities that perpetuate "us vs them", "fuck the police", "I'm from the hood" and all that other bullshit, that ain't the solution. Getting into gangs ain't the solution. Getting into drugs ain't the solution. The message really doesn't just apply to black people, it's only all the more relevant to black communities.

So while ofcourse, it's not easy (guy in the OP didn't say it was), the sentiment is still one that should be promoted more than using racism as an excuse for not going anywhere.

Looting does not do a thing but angry, frustrated people react. The cops broke Freddie's neck so badly it was 80% severed, that with all of the other cop abuse cause people to snap. I am surprised it did not happen sooner.

Not only is that mother wise but she's also a complete milf.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Other angry and frustrated people in Baltimore reacted by peacefully protesting. But these thugs set fires to homes and to businesses and they looted and robbed those businesses as well in their own neighborhoods. There's no justifying that. Any point to be made over Freddie's death was overshadowed by the rioting that followed.
