Alternate History

RE: Alternate History
CCTV has just got out of hand. I bet you could walk the most absurd route through London and the CCTV would get the entire thing from 5 different angles.

RE: Alternate History
I love the British monarchy!! I get to write about the stupid shit royals in England have done in the past on a weekly basis. I love a good historical intrigue. I have to say that I could care less if it goes away now. Unless, of course, they all begin killing each other to get to the throne again, in which case, I say keep it.

I would speculate on the original question here, but I think the scenario where we end up winning anyway has already been covered. The rebels never would have given up. Many of them were risking their lives by simply signing a piece of paper. That's dedication that doesn't just go away.

Australia is the best place to live.

No, that is not an invitation to move here.

Well, I'm glad you made THAT perfectly clear!

I like laughing at the entire British class system ,not just their dysfunctional royal family. I also find the contradiction of working class Tories pretty funnyAngel Cloud

If it weren't for the royal family the entire womens magazine industry in Oz would be defunct.

And it is to our lasting shame that in the 1999 referendum on a Republic for Australia we voted for the Monarchy.

Though to be fair we didn't have much of a choice since the Liberal(conservative) government of the day weighted the

choice in favour of retention of the Queen.

Choice one: vote for the present constitutional Monarchy.

Choice two: vote for a system where the President is chosen by the Prime minister.(so the the head of government controls the head of state)

It SHOULD have been a straight yes/no referendum, but it wasn't.

Even I voted against it.

Although Camilla is very nice to chat too.

Prettier in person too.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

RE: Alternate History
I suppose the CCTV is symbolic at the same time as being annoying and very a very real incursion on personal liberty. The eyes of Big Brother, you know. Is it that much different these days Adrian? I can vouch that post 9/11 America and Canada are insane. So much has changed in the last 10 years, and none for the better. A culture of fear and bombs in underpants.

I have heard people tout that the numbers show that crime has not gone down in post CCTV London, but that is the problem with the numbers... They can show whatever you tell them too.

Thanks,
Cheers,
-Pip
