It's so widespread that some selfish people might argue that adults having sexual relationships with children has once again become 'socially acceptable', as it was in Muhammad's time, and therefore people can start marrying children again (as Muhammad did). Clearly, Muhammad was influenced by moral relativism if the justification for his marriage to Aisha is "everyone else was doing it".

Which is about right. Child marriages were the custom in Christian Europe too.

It also makes me think of rich assholes who have a sense of entitlement, who feel above others, and feel as though poor people are mere things to be used.  All of this is really making me respect the French for how they took care of the monarchy some years ago.

So, yes, I think you have something quite right in your answer.  But I still think part of it is due to sexual repression.  Just a sense of entitlement does not explain bouncing quarters off of one's penis for little girls to catch.  These people are sick fucks.

I did mean the end of puberty. Even if we're generous and say fifteen years of age, and getting younger, that's still nowhere near the ages nine or six (variant ages given for Aisha). But the keyword is 'getting younger', which means people in Muhammad's day went through puberty later than today.
