Should I feel bad for or insulted with my grandmother?

(This post was last modified: May 18, 2015 at 8:19 pm by IanHulett.)
So, mom(with my permission) told my grandmother I'm an atheist. Mom told her I didn't want anybody "praying" for me, but grandma says just like she can't make me come back to religion, I can't make her STOP "praying" for my return to religion. I don't know how to feel.
Should I feel mad because she's going against my wishes and seeing me as diseased and sick, or should I feel bad for her because she thinks talking to her imaginary friend is somehow going to affect me, despite the lack of evidence to support that?
If pinkie pie isn't real, then how do you explain the existence of ponies, huh? If ponies are real, then that's proof that Pinkie Pie is real. Checkmate, christians!

You mean she didn't stone you to death for being an unruly child? Or throw you into a river with a millstone tied around your neck? Such heresy.
I have a grandmother who doesn't like my atheism either. The way I figure it, what she does in her private time is her business. It's sad that they think there's something wrong with us, but it's not the end of the world.

She sounds like a hopeless case. Pity her.

Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't feel bad because it's her own choice. I wouldn't feel insulted because it could ruin whatever relationship you had. Going off on her certainly won't help things if all she's doing is praying.

Maybe she thinks you'll become more accustomed to it if you experience hugs more. Face your fears and all that stuff.

Sounds hard, if she'll think that even her own grandson is somehow deficient due to atheism then it sounds like she's dead set on the idea of belief in God making people better
She's completely wrong obviously, but it seems cruel to bring down someone's entire world view when they're older and could push her away
My advice - Do nothing
You're welcome

And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.” - George Carlin

I think you should feel completely indifferent about it. It's her business if she wants to talk to herself.

It may seem condescending but she has her belief and that belief informs her that someone she loves could go to Hell. She's responding in the only way she knows how. As long as she stays out of your face about it, empathy is called for.
