I came to this site hoping to find reasonable "free thinkers" that could help me logically reason why I don't need to believe in god. Instead I found a bunch of emotional arguments that are always lacking and usually fall short of being logical. Not saying I haven't gotten a lot of good info and resources along with it. But its the dipshits that think they're intellectually superior because they're an ideologue of Richard Dawkins or any other "free thinker" that I get sick of hearing from

Here's part of your problem.

Atheism has very little to do with reasons why you don't 'need to believe in god', logical or otherwise.

The vast majority of atheists are such because the case for the existence of a god has not met its burden of proof. Not wanting or needing to believe in a god or not, has almost nothing to do with it. It is purely a byproduct of skepticism.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

That's right. It's similarly nothing to do with emotion that I don't believe in dragons, goblins, the tooth fairy, Santa Claus, Darth Vader, superman or honest lawyers. Why would I start with an assumption that all these things exist then go around looking for reasons why I shouldn't believe in them? It's an infinitely long list and that's a lot of wasted time. I shortlist claims that are worth considering to those having good evidence backing them up. Otherwise I have to take seriously any drivel any random person says to me. Everyone who isn't entirely gullible acts the same; people just want God claims to be special and given more consideration, for some reason.

I don't have to deny the existence of gods. I just look around, look at my experience, look at what I know, and it seems most likely people are simply applying arbitrary supernatural causation to perfectly natural events, because I can't see fuck all going on. God is not obvious. Obvious means you can't miss it.
