The sad thing is that this is even worth mentioning. I haven't got kids, but I went to school starting in 1969 - you know, the year science managed to land two dudes on the moon - and there never was any kind of debate over what to teach in biology class.

Oh I know! She had to switch schools, and during orientation I was hyper alerts making sure I didn't hear anything in the curriculum that was too off. There was a school shooting a few years back at her new school, so I kind of expected everybody to be over religious as a response. That still may be true, but her subjects are good.
