I don't mean to be rude. But honestly, what concern is it of yours if there are people out there who believe in God? My advice it to just not let it bother you. There will always be people out there who believe differently than yourself, and the best response is to just learn to be tolerant and respectful of different minded people. Shy

I don't care what you personally believe, but the religious have a nasty habit of pushing their religion into politics, down everybody's throats and up little children's asses.

Hold all the abhorrent beliefs you please, but leave the rest of us alone. Live and let live, all that.

That's fine, but the reason I said that is because the OP is asking how she (or he) can do just that... push her/his own views down someone else's throat. The "live and let live" should apply to be OP as well, correct?

The actual answer to the question, CL, is that some atheists believe that religion - all religion - is dangerous for a variety of reasons. Therefore, they want all theists to come to their point of view. Thus, they want to confront and mock Christians wherever they can.

Not all...but some.

fair enough
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I was under the impression that it referred to debating theists, so I would assume the theists in question are willfully engaging in a conversation, therefore I wouldn't call it pushing it down their throats. But yes, the rule should apply to everyone.

hmmm.... Randy seems to have changed his avatar to a pretty lady...

Not looking at the camera, and a taint of high quality lenses and lighting makes me think it's a stock photo! Tongue

Here, Randy, this is how it's done:

Looking at the camera: clear sign that it was a photo taken by some amateur who told the subject to look at the birdie and say cheese
Crappy lighting: Amateurish photographer.... possibly a parent.
Uneven white balance: clear sign of inexpensive camera

I like to say, "If God exists, may he strike me dead now!" and then I go onto say, "In fact, I dare his sorry powerless ass to try anything close to it."

Then I usually get, in response, "It is written: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God!"

Then I close with, "Yeah, well he's not the boss of me!"

Be careful, though, every once in while one of these fanatics will take it upon himself to attack you on behalf of god.

Arrgghh

The picture in my avatar was taken just after the 300th argument from ignorance that day, and shortly before my "reply".
