As you can see, I have said no such thing anywhere on this forum. :-) I was answering a question someone had about what I believed in regards to a third party. That's a little different from directly telling an atheist "God has mercy on you." Which I would never do, just as I would never say "God bless you", or "I will pray for you." Which I believe to be condescending and disrespectful to say to a non believer. But if someone asks me what I believe about something that does not apply to them, I will tell them honestly, and this is what I did above.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

What is God's role in this? Is he/she/it the one that bestows the afterlife upon us? Or is the afterlife in this hypothetical a given? If so, what's this god's job? Is he just the middleman?
Past him, what's so great about an eternal afterlife? Can you imagine an eternal life? I'll go ahead and pass. Kinda looking forward to resting my bones.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay." For context, this is the previous verse: "Hi Jesus" -robvalue
Hell-to-the no!
God is a misogynistic, worship-hungry, hate-filled war monger. (June 25, 2015 at 12:42 pm)Exian Wrote: What is God's role in this? Is he/she/it the one that bestows the afterlife upon us? 'I believe catholics are idiots' is less offensive than 'you're an idiot', to you? 'I hate women' is less offensive than 'I hate you'? It's disrespectful to say that to anybody, not just non believers. (June 25, 2015 at 12:12 pm)Catholic_Lady Wrote: That's fine. I respect your views. My views have no need for respect. If you think they are wrong, tell me why.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but if my beliefs are offenssive to people, then perhaps they should not ask. I did not give that information off voluntarily. I merely answered a question that was asked directly to me. I can see how upset people get here when I don't answer their questions, or even when I don't answer immediately, so this kind of leaves me in a lose lose situation. Furthermore, if I had answered the question with "God condemns people," I'd be accused of being disrespectful. I answered with "God has mercy on people," (which is my real answer) and I'm still accused of being disrespectful. Once again, lose lose. It is what it is.
