That's a nice thought.
Personally i'd love to have a real god that can watch over me  I'll be like: Me: Hey god God: What up son Me: PS5 is out God: I know you are broke.Go to your apartment after work,i ordered it 2 days ago for you. YYYYYYYEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY I'll go on top of the most tallest building and be like: Me: Hey god God: It's ok,you can jump,i'll take care of it. Me: HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT I"M GOING TO SAY NEXT?!It's not fair i also want that power. *And he'd be like* God: Cool,son,you can have it too. And and and i'll be like: Me: God God: What up son? Me: Can you create a virtual world for me to go into and play pokemon? God: Suuuure son,anything for you.

Many people even like me would want a god to exist but considering the nature of this world this god would not be fit for our respect, the same easily applies to the Abrahamic deities along with their entire pantheon (angels). At the same time though a lesser more pagan god would be worthy of more respect considering they lack the omnimax properties of the Abrahamic ones. At the same time I would wish of them to be benevolent.
Either hypothesis for a god would either make it unbelievable and if it was believable it would not be a benign deity and instead a monstrosity. Ut supra, ita inferius

Cathy, I'm saying NO, and asking you a similar question: would you like for me to know your every thought, be responsible for everything you're doing, be capable to make you do whatever I want, be responsible for your being mortal and suffering, making you sick and commanding you to be well making you believe in me even though there's no reason to do so, having you be my unquestioning slave, overall, and for you to worship me under the threat of the most vile and crude torture imaginable? If so, then please explain to me how this kind of slave mentality works. If not, then why and please refer your answer to the god you believe in.
Let me simplify my answer. No, I wouldn't like to live in an orwellian universe, a kind of celestial North Korea, where every single aspect of my life is so kafkaesque as to either break me or kill me outright*. Would you? And if so, why do you then and if not, then how come you do? *Talking about one's spirit. You can dress it up however you want. If you like to call it a loving god, then it's still a kind of love that is forced upon you and not one you're really free to choose - given the consequences if you don't. [the phrases written in bold are Christopher Hitchens quotes]. 
I voted "other" and now I'll explain why.
I wish god were real but only to force him to fix all the wrongs in the world and to turn every theist into an atheist (this would stop the most of the wars - present or future). I'd like a God to exist only if it comes without all the crazy and only the good stuff. If i ask god for Chocolate bars i should have it at that time. I should be able to eat meat as much as i like and not have cholesterol. And this God would love me so much i have to do nothing for him back - like going to church. It'd be like an unlimited supply of good stuffs - why would anyone not want that? But if it comes with all the crazy - like boiling me in Hell and stuff then OMG no! no no NO! I want to say something regarding this topic.
If the God I believed in was the same God I believed once due to my understanding of Islam, I would not want such a God to exist. If it's how Atheists in general understand the Islamic God, I would not want to exist either. However, there is unseen laughter, divine sorrow, and a balance of love and justice with mercy preceding wrath, that I've come to understand the verse "And no one will enter it (hell) except the most wicked" while the infinite worlds as God's blessed Name with his wisdom manifesting through out. The God we have is indeed cool, life is cool, and it's really cool on how he tests us to bring about the best in us and the trial is but a fleeting moment while it's reward is immense and everlasting. |
