Anyway, I envision a society that works without the concept of money, something with the work ethic of Danes, the medium wellbeing of western europeans, the idealistic worldview of Americans and the realism of third world populations. In such a world the essentials would be guaranteed to everybody, so artistic work wouldn't have to be monetized but rather it would attract people of like minds.

but they're including stand ups, theatrical plays , documentaries and amateur movies.

I don't know how they could include amateur movies, I don't see how they could, really, given how many of them must be out there and the problem with selecting them on a given basis, but I will take your word on it seeing as I didn't actually read the whole article despite referencing it, so yeah, sorry about that.
But then again, you didn't exactly specify what kind of movies you were referring to in your post, you simply went on to talk about some kind of movies. Why wouldn't we include documentaries then?

And yet we repeatedly see blockbuster movies pulling in hundreds of millions in their first weekend.

Because....... do you go to the movie theater to watch a documentary ?

the numbers i've given are for movies that are professionally done and put in movie theater some where, and i got them from here.
Here is the list file for you to judge, it's sorted by date release.

I would rather trust IMDB's listing of movies than wikipedia's, or yours for that matter.

You never said you were referring just to movies that were released in a movie theater. Besides, I'm not sure how you could come up with a precise number for that, and if you can, I'm sure you're either not the first to do it or did it wrongly. Anyway, I think you pretty much wasted your time on this project.

Nah, it's the porn industry that's going down . . .

Keep in mind that in the U.S. a majority of this pittance comes from the same crowd that has no problem doling out a significantly greater amount to collection baskets every Sunday for the privilege of hearing the same story repeated ad nauseam.

wasn't really a project, I did this in 2 days.
The only "ALL" lists in IDMB are movies released in the US only, i'm ok with you being skeptical, but you're not providing a reason why...
Did you find any movie missing from that list I gave you ?

well, movie industry is all about movies being released in a movie theater, how else are they gonna sell the movie and get the money. I just assumed that I don't need to state the obvious.

so precise ?
I  added the word "about" before stating the number, isn't that enough to say that it's NOT precise. May be the list is missing 2,3,or maybe 20 movies, but that is pretty much the range of error for that list.

Range of error of 20 movies? How about one of 313709?
There you go, Einstein. As I already imagined, someone already did this, and they did it better than you. It's their job, after all.

This thread should have been dismissed at first sight of citing wikipedia as a believable source, given it's scope. Rather, it's not wiki's fault, they don't pretend they know everything about every subject, it's yours for getting your statistics from them in such a way.

Can you get the titles of those 331,434 feature films, genius ? it's just a number, and you can't tell what's behind it.

they certainly add movies from all around the world, even chinese and indian movies, all I wanted was any english speaking movie, and wikipedia provided that list.

wikipedia is not the safest place to get my info, but the best so far to get the job done.
