Opposed to religion means that person does believe in some sort of an unnatural high power. And I don't believe in any sorts of higher powers.

I'm an atheist and antireligionist. I don't believe in gods, but if you want to, fine ... just keep it to yourself. I agree with whoever it was who said "religion is like a cock, it's nice that you have one, but don't wave it in my face."

I'm an atheist, anti-theist, apatheist, ignostic, and subscribe to the philosophical idea of naturalism.

I'm with Pyrrho on this one. Teachers don't teach evolution in public schools, because it contradicts with the main religion of this stupid, superstitious country. This stupid country meaning: most people in it, can't think for themselves, and don't care to listen and learn from the smart people. They'd rather get their "facts" from their pastor, instead of scientists. They'd rather blindly follow a book (from which they get their morality) that actually portrays god as a mass-murderer, and scoff at people that don't subscribe to such a heinous book, and mock them for "believing" that humans did not walk side by side with dinosaurs. Is there an intelligent religion (oxymoron) out there, that says, "We don't have all the answers, but maybe leave that up to the people that studied how to conduct scientific experiments their whole life, listen to them, and construct your own beliefs based on that, personal experience, with healthy amount of skepticism." No, what we have is...Here is our bullshit, believe it or go to hell. Don't question it, or go to hell. Fuck that!
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' -Isaac Asimov-

I do not believe in a god but I think that anyone should be allowed to practice whatever religion they wish. Just so long as they do not use it to persecute or discriminate, I could care less. I'm only against religion if it is misused.

So I consider myself atheist, but not anti-theist.

RE: Atheist vs Anti-theist
I certainly don't think being anti-religion requires being atheist, although I would imagine the number of theists who are anti-religion will be considerably less. I do remember hearing from a few though. You can be a non religious theist.

I'm anti harm, not anti religion. If religion is doing no harm, then I don't care about it. Sadly this is rarely the case.

Anti/a-theism

The two are not mutually exclusive, nor can they be, no matter whom they might be ascribed to. The one always follows the other, the only things that might vary are the hatred/the denial, but these are, nevertheless, interdependent values[or even the same carrying different names]. This is also the case for a theist, I might add.

Language seems to fuck up a lot for humans.

After all, God is simply an epitome of authority. Surely, no one will try and argue that authority can be absolutely
stripped of any resentment on the part of the subdued?

People can say many things in response to this. We can easily tell, however, when, why, how,  and about what they lie, simply by studying human nature. We are 'different', sure, but not all that much, at least not potentially so.

Huh? It's taught across most of the country here in America. Where do you live?

I'm a wafflist and the lack of a bread option in this poll offends my sincerely held religious beliefs

Atheism doesn't define me and I'm certainly not a missionary shoving my own world view down the throats of others. Yes, religion proves to be harmful under certain circumstances, but if you go out preaching the gospel of atheism, you're not that different from religious bigots. It's creating yet another ideology, same as religion does. And ideologies are ultimately hurtful.

So, opposition to sneaking religious contexts into society, yes. Actively fighting religion, no.
