Nowhere in the Gospels or Acts of Epistles or Apocalypses does the New Testament say it is the inerrant word of God. It couldn’t—the people who authored each section had no idea they were composing the Christian Bible, and they were long dead before what they wrote was voted by members of political and theological committees to be the New Testament.The Bible is a very human book. It was written, assembled, copied and translated by people. That explains the flaws, the contradictions, and the theological disagreements in its pages.

What it does not explain is the sad attachment of far too many idiots to it.

"All scripture is suitable . . ." (Timothy somewhere) So how could any demonstrably false Scripture be in the Bible ??

Newsweek has it backwards, for the Bible to contain an errant word of God, there would need to be an explicit verse noting that, and there isn't.

And of course the Christian Bible represents the views of the winners that emerged from the early intra-Christian squabble. There were other scriptures, but the communities of believers represented by those books were declared heretics and their views were suppressed. Somehow in the modern Christian mindset, a vote taken centuries ago by a group of fallible humans equals the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit because the guys who took the vote said so.

Don't want the Newsweek article to get the hopes up of the slacker chrisitans. They are still damned for liberal backsliding and scripture cherry picking. God is still holding them accountable for EVERY jot and tittle.

That was a good article. It verified that the New Testament is not contradictory to the Old Testament. It also stated that taking the lessons in the Bible too literally is counterproductive. It showed that the trinity is a manipulation by man. It also specified that you can help others understand as long as you set beside them as opposed to above them. It explained that you must not only have faith but live according to that Faith. It showed that all of the quarreling over which religion is right is rediculous in that they are the same. It displayed that not all sins equate the same damnation. That was the most non biased peice of explanatory writing that I have read in quite some time. Too bad some will never believe. There is hope though. Good luck in all truth you seek.

For someone who is unaffiliated with any religion, you sure do want people to convert to religion.

No particular one though. You did catch that right. Just rightious action. And the agreement that there is a higher power. Everything boils down to one. That one is the source of all. That source is God. No special name or contradictory interpretation needed.
