Reality doesn't exist until we observe it.

RE: Reality doesn't exist until we observe it.
particles ≠ reality

If I'm not mistaken.

No consciousness, eh?  I suppose your asshole decided to type these words out?

Using meta-bullshit-semi-religious terms like consciousness won't prove anything but how naive you are. I am thinking with my brain, just as you are just like an atom moves because of its energy. There's nothing miraculous or unique about it. You're just inevitably biased because of your perspective on yourself, just like the atom might be. Consciousness is a redundant term and doesn't really mean anything. One need only think about this to understand that this idea of consciousness doesn't hold any water at all. To be conscious would imply to be Godlike. We are not godlike. Everything we do is predetermined by other factors which we can't possibly trace back or comprehend. Therefore, what you call 'consciousness' isn't anything more to humans than, say, gravity is to a planet.

Meta-bullshit? semi-religious? I hate to burst your narcissistic, my-ideas-are-more-refined-than-yours wankfest, but here is the definition of consciousness...

Quote:con·scious·ness
ˈkän(t)SHəsnəs/
noun
1. the state of being awake and aware of one's surroundings.

2. the awareness or perception of something by a person.

3.the fact of awareness by the mind of itself and the world.

You see, it requires none of the extra bullshit baggage you've attached(godlike, wtf is that?), and that definition fits quite well with a physical reductionist approach to the mind, which I happen to take. Hell, by trying to explain that your brain does not have a consciousness, you've demonstrated an awareness about your mind, and that is precisely what consciousness is.

I know you're desperate to feed your ego and demonstrate how much better than everyone you are(seriously, get some real fucking self-esteem so we don't have to witness this pathetic attempt to drown us in your superiority complex), but you can't just go redefining words to your liking.

I know the definition of the word. I was just following OP's lead. I thought you were too. Sometimes we do mean something else when talking about words, in fact it's the only way to properly communicate. Language is as imperfect a way of communication as it gets. Words define words. We might disagree about the words behind the words of the words, and so on. I think you got what I mean.

Please stop being such an asshole. I get that you are trying to build a strawman out of me, in order to be able to ignore my logic, but do it without attempting to judge character and rather criticise the arguments themselves, just as I do.

Let me put it differently. How can you prove to me that you are aware/conscious, let alone that I am?

RE: Reality doesn't exist until we observe it.
In fairness, the op did invoke a godlike consciousness, responsible for (and capable of) creating reality by observation.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Following the OP's lead?  If I misconstrued that you were saying consciousness isn't real, I apologize.  That doesn't change the fact, however, that you responded with hostility.

Without attempting to judge character? Is that what you were doing when you wrote this?

Quote:...won't prove anything but how naive you are.

or this?

Lol.  "Stop being such an asshole.  Only I get to do that."

A deeper question that I don't have time to answer right now.  I have to go get my head shrunk.  Maybe later.  Cheers.
