Judging by what is happening in the middle east now, shouldn't the question be:
Can a theist be moral like an atheist?

Quote:You r missing the whole point if someone is doing something bad in the name of something it doesn't mean he is representing it by example many countries were invaded by the name of democracy that doesn't mean that democracy is a bad thing. Hey. YOU asked the question, dummy. Your implication is that you think your bullshit makes you ethical. It does not. Perhaps on the Arabian peninsula in the 9th century it was ethical but we are now in the 21st century.... and muslims are not my idea of ethical.
Nope, as an atheist I would never blow you up for believing in Allah. Nor would I start a crusade to force you not to believe. Nor would I kill homosexuals, adulterers, or take glee in the eternal damnation of others. In short I'm way too moral to behave like a theist.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

And before you deny it remember it's happened in China, Russia......etc (July 15, 2015 at 8:48 pm)huss88ein Wrote:Well, I say it's entirely germane to the main point. I like women, I love teh gays, I like free speech.Me too except for the gays part but lets agree to make that for another discussion in order to concentrate on the main point. I could never be that kind of "ethical." Calling some of the tenets of your religion ethical is fucking laughable in my book. So, keeping it on topic, I would say disliking an entire group of people for something that they cannot control and has no effect on you is highly unethical and immoral. What's wrong with gay people, Hussein?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

In an earlier post you indicated that we should "search the word ethics and read in wikipedia by example that ethics came from relegion". I did that:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethics It has very little to say about ethics being tied to religion or founded by religion. I believe that atheists are more ethical than theists. We don't have all of the religious bullshit clogging up our brains and thus making the ethical choice easier. You need to listen for the "POP". That will be your head coming out of your ass.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
