"The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us..." should we be grateful?

Yes. That is sad. But what exactly are you trying to say?

That the bible should be outlawed because a small percentage of the people who read it come out thinking God wants us to believe gays are vile?

Of course, because there's never any middle ground is there? It's always either one extreme or the other. I mean it's not like there's other options, like - oh I don't know - education or anything. Perhaps if your pope spoke out publicly condemning these so-called minority groups, pointing out that your special book doesn't paint same-sex relationships as abominations.

Oh wait...
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Isn't the middle ground what the vast majority of Christians are already?

The pope has spoken out against extremist views, and the Church does teach to treat gay people with respect and love.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Because dick sucking is between one man and one woman, is that it?

So your special book can't be interpreted to say that gays are an abomination?

You really have no idea how strange and wonderful you are, do you? Perhaps there are more of you than I usually suppose. But I'm pretty sure you're far from the vast middle ground.

I think you may really need to get out more.  No.  Emphatically no.  The vast majority of Christians I encounter in the media and in my family harbor hateful positions which they attribute to the bible.  It really is pretty ugly out there.

I'm not sure what you mean by a middle ground.  The majority of us don't think gays are vile, if that's what you mean.  Can you clarify?

.
There are obviously people out there who read the entire bible and come out of it believing that gay people are vile. So, yes. It can and does get interpreted that way by some people.

That's not cool. What hateful positions? Sad

And Whateverist,

According to Napoleon, the only reason any man here even "pretends" to have any respect for me is because I suck their d_ck.

So I guess that rules it out as being something only between me and my husband. Undecided

That's not what I meant by that. I agree they need to have their beliefs regarding gay people challenged and criticized by Christians and non Christians a like. What I meant was I have never met one myself to do the criticizing. If I did meet one, I would definitely say something.

...but what if it hurts their feelings to be challenged and criticized thusly, what if it offends their religious sensibilities?

Ok, I'm going to ask you to drop the innocent act just for a moment. I don't believe for a moment that you're as dumb as you seem to want to pretend to be. By "middle ground" I was clearly referring to the gulf between the extreme positions of your special magic book being (apparently) perverted by extremists on the one hand, and your strawmanning me into a position of banning the whole damn thing on the other. I never mentioned condemning people in any of that and I'm wondering why you want to get me to say that?

The reason I would react the way I said to anyone expressing the "dead child" thing is for personal reasons. And no I'm not going to share with you.
