Evidence: The Gathering

RE: Evidence: The Gathering
-and before he thinks that he might be able to poison the well....what with the rebuttals coming from godless atheists, heathens, and heretics........it might be prudent to realize that there are christians who feel it is their duty to defend the faith by divorcing it from shitty arguments such as these.  I feel alot of sympathy for those guys - it's an uphill fight.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Arguing from prophecy was not only Jesus' own approach but very popular for the first 1500 years or so of Christianity.

So we're down to prophets now. I thought even Limbo hat it's limits of how low you can go.

Ever heard how many Nostradamus prophecies are considered to be true by certain people? Want to join their ranks of making ends meet after the fact? Or do you want to maintain a shred of credibility?

Once again, what do you hope to get out of this? It's kinda obvious, we don't consider your "arguments" even remotely convincing. You give the impression of someone fapping in front of a mirror.

I'm not sure how much of this can be defined as evidence. You asking questions about open-ended specific events is just plain speculation. There's a lot witness accounts, but that's not even considered to be good evidence by today's standards. The account of another account of a guy who converted because he followed another guy, 2000 years is not compelling evidence of anything. I'm sorry, it's just not.
I'm fairly certain that the writings of Josephus have been debunked as forgeries. I could be wrong. I'm sure someone will let me know.
While it's true that a few  Roman leaders did reference Christ in their writings, there's no reason to assume they were referring to Jesus. The word Christ simply means "anointed one"  A specific reference to Jesus Christ would go a long way towards confirming that Jesus did walk the Earth. So, what?
Even going on the assumption that Jesus actually existed, was crucified, and even that his tomb was empty...how does that prove the existence of a God? Existing and dying are not an extraordinary events. A tomb being empty is not extraordinary, either.  None of those are reasons to believe that there is a God exists.
You are not going to be able prove what thousands of scholars who have devoted their life to this issue haven't.
You cannot prove a god exists. It cannot be done.  Especially on a site like this.  Understand your audience. Have a nice day.

Thena, darlin'. Hide tags please Smile I've noticed you having trouble with the quote function. No big deal, our own Valuable Rob has made a nice how-to thread for newbies.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

(I already have a lot on my plate.)

That would be the point.  You've emptied out all the dressers, drawers, and closets onto the floor and are now flailing around in the laundry.

Not even a little bit. As you can see from the OP of this thread as well as my new Objections thread, I'm learning and "gathering" both the objections and the answers.

I'm reading, thinking, praying and getting stronger every day.

Randy's a hopeless case, and I am just bored with him at this point.

Have fun in the other subforums (though everyone seems to hang out here most of the time).

Philosophical Arguments

I've just figured out your problem.  You don't know what the word "evidence" means.

"Arguments" are not "evidence."  They are um, "arguments."

Quote:evidence

[ev-i-duh ns]

Law. data presented to a court or jury in proof of the facts in issue and which may include the testimony of witnesses, records, documents, or objects.

And we get to examine said records/documents/objects and cross-examine the witnesses.  I'm afraid all you have is the "duh" part.

ev·i·dence
ˈevədəns/Submit
noun
1. the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.

I've presented lots of evidence...you just don't like any of it because it reminds you that you are lapsed Catholic who needs to go to confession.
