I wonder how much more common this will become. Might grease the wheels of putting more money into infrastructure which could help jobs and the economy. Yay for bridges falling down!

Wasn't it a GOP candidate who recently said they can repair bridges OR provide benefits to the elderly, but not both?

They could slash the military budget, or raise taxes on the rich, but they want to make like it's a sadistic choice between funding infrastructure, or funding something else we really need. Like in Kansas, where they can't fund the education system because the rich need their kickbacks. And when the legal system demands he do something, the governor threatens to defund them.

The Republicans would never allow us to spend money on something so frivolous as infrastructure. There are too many bombs and professional sports stadiums to build.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

It's not like crumbling bridges are news. How many years ago was it that the bridge in the Twin Cities went down? And how much high-minded bleating did we hear then about the need for infrastructure investment? Apparently, we need a high enough body count to stir any kind of action on this issue.

As long as the 1% can fly to their destinations in private helicopters the hoi polloi can go fuck themselves...that's the republicunt mantra.
The question is why so many of those idiots vote for them?
