You're probably right but for many other reasons...

Well, I just want you to know that logical fallacy is a bullshit philosophy term for people that don't know what they are talking about. Big Grin

There are a couple, IMHO valid, presumptions, but it was not intended as a formal statement, at least not as of yet.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.

No, it wouldn't. Science is a method of discovering how the universe works. God, who's supposed to have created the universe and who knows everything - has no use for science whatsoever. Experiments and tests are  necessary for ignorant beings, who are trying to find out something. Is your god such a being?

(my bold)

Actually, yes.  (his god, not mine  ...  wait, I don't have a god. can I borrow yours?)

I meant he loved science to be used by humans to discover how the universe worked, and it's various uses.

A real god could have created 'realities' far beyond what we could possibly comprehend and still be given entertainment by our science.

Fun ideas to think about, especially when drunk or stoned. Smile

My favorite has always been "expanding infinitely into nothing".

The much better question would be, why would any god worthy of it's title even care. An omniscent, omnipotent and eternal being should care about worship by something being much less than an ant colony in comparison?

One of our theist residents made a remark about a "big god" being outside of morality. In it's stupidity that remark also had some involuntary wisdom to it. A "big god" is like the claim of a "big dick". Entirely human, a bully, full of vices. A "great god" wouldn't care about any of it, since it would be beyond him to give a shit.

Found this in wiki (skeptic radar up please). Regarding Mary Baker Eddy and Christian Science "At the core of Eddy's theology is the view that the spiritual world is the only reality and is entirely good, and that the material world, with its evil, sickness and death, is an illusion. "

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Science

I do not think that was of what he was speaking.  I still cannot recollect, but it will come to me.

I understand the philosophical point being made, but it's meaningless for the same reason everyone ducks when something is hurled at their face. Even if we knew we were immaterial minds and that physical reality was an illusion we would still have to navigate it as if it were not an illusion.

To a certain extent that would be true, but then it begs the question of where to draw the line as in the end, everything is meaningless.

All god would have to do is dream us into existence. How much could one care about the characters in a dream? Effectively, we would not even be real from the god's perspective.

RE: There is no god!
If I stop and really think about life and the universe objectively, I find that I don't believe any of it is "real". Everything seems ludicrous, contrived, bizarre and pointless.

This is probably the result of my brain not being able to comprehend things properly.

It seems like the brain actively fights against "zooming out" like this, at least for me, by trying to keep itself occupied with other tasks and thoughts. Keep in the bubble.
