Theists - how certain are you that a God exists?

I'm sorry friend, but the answers that you are giving are not logically consistent. No one KNOWS that God exists. Saying you believe he exists and is real is far different from claiming to know. You are making a non falsifiable claim. It is precisely arguments like these from most theists that turn atheists away. It shows arrogance and nothing else. Also how is telling people they will see when they get to Hell constructive? If you are a true Bible believer you need to open the book back up and read some more.
This should be interesting......or the usual deluded tactical evasions and other such shite that can be employed.

I know God is real, that He exists, so you couldn't have known what I know or you couldn't ever be an atheist. You could say you've walked away from God, but you couldn't say He's not real. Can't help you have mental issues about ghosts, you might want to get that checked out. I'm none of the above, I love God and know that He will always be with me, and again your death will tell you everything about God, unless you reconsider you present belief.

Oh...excuse me...ahem...

Jehovah is not real (nor are any of the gods of men), and I no longer believe in ghosts or anything else supernatural, either.

Oh, and I was speaking of my own mind. I don't think belief requires mental gymnastics from you because I've seen no evidence that you're smart enough to be capable of them, let alone that you would need to resort to them as a basis for faith.

And there you go again with your baseless assertions. Yes, I believed at least as strongly as you do. Yes, I stopped believing because of evidence (or rather lack thereof). No, you do not know. You believe. You know you're alive. You believe in Gaud. You do not know the difference because you are an idiot.

By the way, I can read your bland color choices no problem. Blue eyes soak light like a sponge. Fuckin' bring it.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

Godschild - even I could be wrong about having parents, even though I have known them for over thirty years. I am a human, and have a brain that does not always function correctly. Brains go wrong all the time. We have plenty of evidence of this.

There is no way you can be 100% sure a God exists. No way at all, even if you think you talk to it face to face every day.

With my parents, I can show them to people. They will be able to see them, hear them, touch them, smell them etc. Almost all humans on meeting them in this manner would agree that they exist. And I would still not claim to know 100% that they exist, even though it is mighty close.

You cannot do anything similar with your God.

I'm sorry you don't know God, you have no idea what you're missing, a relationship with Him is like none other and you can't have a relationship with something that might be. I'm as sure God is real as I'm alive, tell me how is it you can believe Jesus is real if you do not know God is real. I haven't turned an atheist away yet they were here when I got here and they just keep coming here spreading their tripe, there are a few here who have respect for the debate and try to have descent conversations. Seems to me the arrogance is your's, you're the one who insist I do not know for certain God is real. It seems to me you are confused what you're to have faith in, it's not God, it's what He has promised. You need to remember that God said that no one will have an excuse for not knowing Him, these are God's words not mine, could be it's you who need to search the scriptures and find the reality of knowing God. Paul tells us several times in the NT we can know God, so you tell me how can you possibly know God if you are not sure He exists?

Oh my shit. We actually got the theists arguing about who's more right about their god statements. What do we do? Jump in? Sit back and watch?

I like this place! It's exciting!

I do not need to do the same, it's a personal relationship and God has given me plenty of evidence, why, because I searched and watched God work in my life to leave no doubt. I'm 100% sure, sorry if you can't accept this, it's not my fault. the fault is with you. I feel sorry for your parents by the way.

lkingpinl, I have another question for you. What will you do when you die and find yourself before another god and not the God of creation, with the way you think it's a possibility and that possibility could lead to many horrors. So how do you know you'll come before the God of creation instead of another god that will use you as a toy.

To be honest and logical and state that you believe that God exists with a degree of certainty in that I am confident in it, but it is not possible to PROVE that to others empirically.  A belief in God is personal.
We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.
