Yes, however most claim that it is due to religious people being born in poorer countries with less access to education. I don't accept this explanation, because, when religious and non religious people are compared in the same countries there is a higher IQ average in the non religious side.

Religious people are dumber only by proxy of their religious beliefs.

They view anything logical as contradictory to their beliefs and thus they refuse to learn anything as a result. Rather, they would prefer to reside in the delusional comfort that religion provides.

Can you show the studies?
The unspoken premise when people claim this always seems to be that dumber people tend to choose religion, and that this is a sign that religion is the inferior viewpoint. But I think that even if the data showed a significant correlation, that that's not necessarily how it works.

RE: Higher IQ's
I've heard there is a link between education and non-religion. I think this is probably more significant than with IQs.

Kitan: I was talking bollocks Tongue I think you're right, I've noticed a trend in very intelligent people having "compensating" factors, very often social. I'm not sure if this is something that has been studied in detail, I'd be interested if it has.

I agree with you. That is not how it works. I believe that the smarter you are, the more skeptically geared you are towards religion.

I have a 164, which is on the border between genius and high genius.

I'm bordering between "average idiot" and "village idiot" but I don't agree. I believe I'm definitely one of the smarter idiots out there.

Do they measure IQs differently outside of Europe, because every other person on the internet claims to have 160, but according to the scales I know that is so exceedingly rare that one shouldn't encounter such people regularly. Who is administering all these tests anyhow?

140 used to be the "genius" bar when I was younger, and I'm only thirty-five.

RE: Higher IQ's
There's a simple formula for determining your IQ:

IQ = X + 5

Where X is what the other guy just said his IQ was.
