And what's the worst?
Best, I'm gonna go with Japan. Worst, Saudi Arabia.

What's the best country to be an atheist?

Interesting question. I would tend to agree that the Asian nations are more secular. I would say China. Worst I would agree would be Saudi Arabia.
Why do you ask? Just curious if you are looking to relocate
We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.
Any of the countries in northern Europe would be good.

If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
My country, the UK seems good. Almost everyone I meet seems to have no particular faith these days, for some reason there has been a profound shift away from christanity except as a kind of cultural background hum.
As for worst, I'd say Saudi Arabia, Pakistan. If you have any serious concerns, are being harassed, or just need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me via PM RE: What's the best country to be an atheist?

The term "atheist" almost doesn't make sense here in Oz.
The only time we ever hear about religion on the news is when some ex -priest is up on charges... Actually, last night on the news, in Bendigo (3rd largest town/city in melboure) residents put a big stink when the long talked about mosque finally got approved through the council and building will commence shortly. From the looks of the proposed image, this thing is massive and will dwarf any other building in Bendigo!
No God, No fear.

It's never been an issue my whole life. Although people don't tend to openly label themselves atheists, many people are, and many "Christians" are in name only. If you started ranting about God here, people would generally think you were nuts. It breaks my heart to think of atheists trapped in horrific countries where they must pretend to be deluded in order to survive Feel free to send me a private message.
