You concocted the "Great Consciousness." I was just wondering why you bothered?
As noted above, the universe exists. So what?
And, no. I have no patience for meditation or any of that new-age touchy-feely shit.

People get really crazy when it comes to labels, fitting in ideologies somewhere. If I were to label myself, I would probably be closer to militant athiest than anything, but even then, i'm also a humanist, so i'm not clearly defined by any one label, people who really are freethinkers tend not to be.
"In our youth, we lacked the maturity, the decency to create gods better than ourselves so that we might have something to aspire to. Instead we are left with a host of deities who were violent, narcissistic, vengeful bullies who reflected our own values. Our gods could have been anything we could imagine, and all we were capable of manifesting were gods who shared the worst of our natures."-Me
"Atheism leaves a man to sense, to philosophy, to natural piety, to laws, to reputation; all of which may be guides to an outward moral virtue, even if religion vanished; but religious superstition dismounts all these and erects an absolute monarchy in the minds of men." – Francis Bacon

Although you made it clear that you don't believe in a God but you do believe in a great "conciousness" beyong everything, I am struggling to see the difference. Could you please clarify?

Super Cyn-
He does not believe in a consciousness, the closest thing people have decided in the force, but I expect he doesn't think he can move stuff with his mind.
Ghostlighter-
perhaps you are just a spiritual atheist? oh, well, like other people have said it is not important to label yourself. You are a gnostic atheists and you aren't a religious Taoist. (they shove jade in people's orifices when they die in the hopes that the breath won't leave them and they will live again. But I could be wrong about that.) but philosophical Tao is well, not a religion. I happen to like the Tao myself.
