The problem is that a god as usually described would have no need or desire to do anything that is attributed to him. He's playing childish games with a cosmic lego kit. If he wasn't a sadistic prick, he would at least refrain from making the lego men self-aware.
So I totally agree, God doesn't need angels. It's just another way for him to fuck around.

There's your problem right there BQ. (You're not supposed to use your brain in these delicate matters! "Conform" or "go to hell" are your only 2 options, sorry about that!)

He's gracious, sees value in life, and wanted to give life to other beings for one.
It always amazes me how atheists tend to see things only in terms of needs and don't take into account desires, creativity, etc.

I guess the thread isn't over until Neimenovic jumps in with an appeal to emotion.

Appeal to emotion? What was that about him being loving and having our best interest at heart? That's a logical contradiction to creating species whose sole purpose is to cause blindness in our children.

Contradiction to an omni-faceted god. Why would a perfect being value those things? Wouldn't that make it imperfect? Why would an perfect being 'want' anything at all? Want would imply that it lacks something, which again, contradicts omni-facets no?

The issue with omni-facets is that they are, almost by default, contradictory. It is impossible to introduce omni-facets into a conversation and hold it stable, because as soon as you do so, everything, from existence, to the bible claims (or indeed any claims), contradict themselves on their own premise.

Desire implies need/want for something and therefore - missing something. A perfect being can not be missing anything, therefore does not desire anything.
Creativity is a human trait, necessary for fulfilling our needs. We create tools in order to circumvent the shortcomings of our bodies and minds. We create art in order to communicate complex emotions, between our solipsistic, yet socially interdependent brains.
Again - what shortcomings does a perfect being have and who does the only such being have to communicate with?
It always amazes me how theists see god as basically themselves only A LOT taller - like at least 50 feet. That betrays your primitive imagination, as well as your arrogant narcissism, clumsily masked with disingenuous humility. "There is a perfect being out there and of course it has to be just like me."
"The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one." - George Bernard Shaw

No, it doesn't. I'ts pretty silly to say that an omni being can't actually do anything with his omnis, other wise he's not omni.

Says you. I see it differently.
