Even during biblical times, the Thessalonians thought they were seeing signs of the so-called end times. What are we told to look for—earthquakes, wars, famine, disobedient children, people falling away from the faith, etc. Jesus guaranteed that every generation after him would see signs they were in the end times, so how long are you going to wait before you realize it’s not going to happen? Jesus told the people his generation would not pass before he returned and took up his church. Christians either ignore this passage in Matthew 24 or they come up with some convoluted re-interpretation of the word “generation.” Those phony European proselytes running around the Middle East calling themselves Jews don’t have the slightest biological connection to Abraham so no they don’t fulfill any prophesy and they’re presence cannot be counted as the generation Jesus was talking about.
If he’d wanted to show that he knew the end times and these days in which we now live are the end times, he would have said something like “In those days men shall fly in machines that fly like birds in the air and they shall shrink the earth with those machines. In those days a man shall sit in his house and talk to his friend in another city and he shall use a friend talk to his friend and they shall talk the two of them and they shall hear one another as if they were in the same room even though they be in different cities. Beware ware for in those days a man shall anger the king in another country and the king shall bend his bow to send his arrow to kill that man and the king shall direct the arrow where it shall go so that it kill only that man and he shall not leave his country to do this but the man shall die of an arrow shot from another country. And in those days men shall hang great moving pictures on the walls of their houses and the pictures shall move and speak and make women laugh and cry.”
How long will the church wait for something that according to the Bible should have already happened?

The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

Nietzsche isn't dead. How do I know he lives? He lives in my mind.
