Thinking it over it hit me god is afraid of humans and what they can achieve that being said god in the bible is not immortal but a mortal asshole with powers.
So yeah that's about it.

Another example of small minded thinking...

Tell me sandy, have you ever watched a movie who plot line centered around time travel? Even if you are not a time travel movie fan, I'm sure you get the basic primise. Change something in the past, even something very small and it can have a dramatic consenquences in the future. The further back you go the greater the change to the future. God said the reason He confused the languages of man was not because of the tower persay, it was because whatever we come together to do we would accomplish. Now only simpleton would assume from that time till this 'man' would only come together to do 'good things.' Look at all of human History, and tell me you only see 'good' things. Look just at WWII and the pure evil that came from it. Now if all of man were united on Hitler's front, and 'we' decided to wipe away one single portion of the population, what would stop us? Now try and imagine how many times this would have played out from the time of bable till now. Who would be left?

We are here, because God confused the language of man. Change that and man may not have survived this long.

WWII was largely driven by religious beliefs. Much of the horror of history comes from religious people make war over who had the right beliefs. Even those worshiping the same god. Much of the horrors of history comes from people with great power believing they're always right, and people who disagree should die. Which is a lot like how Yahweh runs things, yet we're supposed to think he's the good guy.

Now look at modern times. What are the best countries in the world? The ones where leaders are treated like public servants, instead of rulers, and everyone is given basic Human rights. The worst countries in the world? Theocracies and dictatorships. Whatever your god is doing, it isn't working. He's not helping.

ROFLOL Sorry professor not even close.
Germany felt stifled by the reperation it was being made to pay to the rest of Europe for WWI, and wanted out of their 'great depression so bad they made a deal with the devil.
Italy wanted in on the land grab in Africa and Europe.
Japan wanted the natural resources in the south pacific Oil/Iron ore/Food production. In short the Axis powers wanted to rule the world and the rest of the world said no. That was what WWII was fought over, not religion sport. The big three in the Axis powers did not even share a common religion

All wars are fought over this belief. it is not limited to the religious.. Or do you not think the civil war was fought over beliefs, or the Revolutionary war or the war of 1812? Spainish American war ect... Even WWII the belief that Hitler should be allowed to establish a third reich was a fundamental belief in Nazi Germany.

Ok. Just the concentration camps part, then? It doesn't matter. Religion has done more harm than good in the world, because divisiveness is a foundational belief. It holds us back in multiple ways.

The hitlers of the world come from your end. Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and any other dictator that thinks he's above everyone, and death to those who disagree. They are evil because they are violently self centered. Much like your god.

If it was so called "Divine Intervention" that caused multiple languages, why then are we able to learn another language? Isn't the ability for humans to have the occasional translator a huge oversight?

For a god he always seems to fuck up the details.  God seems more like a D student trying to get his grades raised by blowing the prof.

Good point.

But if one really buys into the story, I wonder how one avoids the idea that translation might be a sin or at least a misguided effort to thwart God's will? And doesn't that make the entire effort to evangelize the world through translations of Hebrew/Greek (themselves punishments for humanity's hubris) somewhat suspect? I mean, didn't The Almighty foresee some problems with a book-dependent plan?

RE: The tower of babel
One idiot creatard has calculated that the Tower of Babel was built c 2100 BC.

Quote:The Tower of Babel was built and destroyed in Peleg's lifetime between 2203 and 1964 BC and most likely around half-way into his lifetime (c. 2100 BC).

Given that date we already have written records from Egypt, Sumeria, and India from that time which means that ... Ta-Da... the bible is full of shit.

But then, that is not a surprise is it?
