I think philosophy is a good way to spend time, but I'm not so sure that it will let me get more out of life.  There's much to be said for drinking, getting laid, and hating those who offend you. The greatest zen, after all, is not giving a shit about being zen.

None whatsoever. I am alive and that's just the way it is until I die. Since I am here, I try to do the best I can to survive and try to enjoy things as much as possible.

Why have you not killed yourself yet?

No reason to do so. If I was really fucked up physically with no quality of life, I might consider it.

Also, my kids would miss me so I'll do my best to hang around for them.

Being human transcends our natural behaviour. Yes of course, it is in our genes to not kill ourselves, but we can easely put that aside. There is a reason why suicide is a main cause of death around the world. So that's why the question: why don't you kill yourself?

I wouldn't say suicide is a main cause of death. It's listed 24th (as of 2002) which seems pretty high, until you see it only accounts for 14 of every 100,000 deaths. That's 0.014%

To answer the OP, there are many things that give meaning to my life. First, family. After that, an evening thunderstorm where the rain get's backlit by the setting (already just past the horizon) sun. It's what John Denver spoke of in the song "Rocky Mountain High" when he said "I've seen it rainin' fir in the sky." Sitting at the edge of a high mountain lake right at the edge of ice out, listening to the fracturing ice creak and moan. Turning a corner on a wooded path to find a millpond smooth mountain lake reflecting the high peaks behind. The rumble of a beloved purring pet as it drifts off to sleep in your lap.

I could go on for a long, long time.

The christers claim that without gawd, this life is cheapened. I say that being the only life we have makes it much more precious.

I believe that in some cases philosophy can make you enjoy these things even more. Well, at least that is so for me :p
And no I'm not sure, for I believe that for many things the truth does not exist. We must always stay in the uncertain, but that's more than fine.

I've got to say how put off I am by the equivocation between "the examined life" and the question of "whether to kill oneself".  It is a symptom of identifying with the conscious mind as the totality of the self, or at least the only important part.  It goes to show just how extreme an adaption it was for a creature to invest so heavily in just one part of its mind and to so thoroughly separate it from the rest.  We so often think of humans as the apex of evolution.  But we are really just one more extremely specialized organism.  Fortunately most of us do not immediately jump from being reflective about our life to deciding whether or not to kill ourselves.
