But.... if the guy is being an ass... won't the others band up against him? At least as soon as they can?
you'd think so, but it depends on the dynamics in the tribe at the time. Russell was able to survive the chaos he was causing because (1) people didn't know he was the cause of some of it, and (2) the chaos he was causing stirred up enough paranoia among other players that they all turned on each other and never got the opportunity to take him out.

A one-shot wonder.
Quote:I'd say it's OP if it can be used multiple times, so I'll assume it can only be used once... that means they get to save one of the group once... a few days later, the invincible shield is gone... then what?
That's basically what happens - it saves people for a single vote and then they're vulnerable again - that's why people talk about "flushing the idol" to force it to be played and then they can target those people the next time they vote.
The problem with not flushing the idol last time is that now they're in a 4-4 tie situation, so the guys having the super idol (played AFTER all the votes have been read) means they have a huge advantage now and could swing the whole game back in their favor.

Are they really in a 4-4 situation?
It looks more like 3 guys - the girls (4?) - fbi old guy
Of the 3 guys, one may not be very happy with the others' attitudes... and that one now has 2 idols.
The girls can now pick most other guys off, one by one...

the 4-4 split will happen if Julia defects to the guys, then it will be
Jason, Scot, Tai and Julia
v
Aubrey, Cydney, Joe and Michelle
And the guys can play their super idol and gain the majority - or, because Joe was left out of the loop on the Debbie vote, he might (possibly but not likely) defect to the guys too (which won't happen) in which case they have a 5-3 majority and they don't need to play the super idol.

It'll be a sad game if that island becomes a fire services HQ....

Sandra won Pearl Islands, the pirate-themed season with Rupert (it's a single-digit season so it was a loooong time ago). It was also the season in which Johnny Fairplay told the infamous Dead Grandma lie.
She came back in Heroes v. Villains and went to the end with Russell and Parvati and beat them because of a bitter jury.

Tai is overly precious in his glasses, but he knows stuff.

Oh yeah! Tai is such a strong player. There are two guys who won't vote for him in the end but everyone else but Julia may very well do so. He is good. But so is Aubrey. So glad Tai stood up to Scot before he and Jason tossed him under the bus.
