Now that's a more respectable score, lol
Right-wing atheists are an apparent minority, which is a shame. Although it's possible that a rejection of Conservatism (which is usually also quite religious) comes with a rejection of religion, especially if the family was a fundamentalist group. Back on the subject, I think the current deal is workable. Conservative David Cameron is the Prime Minister, and the leader of the Liberal Democrats is the Deputy Prime Minister. Cabinet positions are being shared between the two parties. If the first-past-the-post electoral system is scrapped, this type of parliament will most likely happen a lot more often, so I think this could be a new beginning for British politics. Yeah, I'd largely agree with you. What we've got appears to be workable, and may be the least bad option. Hopefully the Labour Party's crusade against civil liberties will be thrown into reverse, although it might be too much to expect a restoration of our right to remain silent (in the US enshrined in the 5th amendment). Hopefully the LibDems will be able to prevent the effects of the inevitable cuts from hitting poorest hardest. I'm also cautiously optimistic about the chances of shrinking the grossly bloated bureaucracies that we have in this country. Politicians are usually much better at talking about shrinking the state while in opposition than they are at actually shrinking the state when the come into office. But we'll see... And yes, a new beginning for British politics is also possible.

Someone said yesterday that if PR was introduced the Conservative party would never gain power again. In no way are they going to support a referendum. It's a throwback to feudal lordship... those with money want the power and they'll take it. Democracy is a sham.
I'm all for coalition. Single party rule isn't desirable IMO. Yay me? ^_^ Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam

At least with a coalition, there'll be one party in power restraining the other party in power. It won't make 'em honest. Not even god could do that, since corruption is a logically necessary property of being a politician. But maybe with them looking over each other's shoulders we'll see a little bit less flagrant dishonesty.

Mikhail Bakunin A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything Friedrich Nietzsche Quote:Someone said yesterday that if PR was introduced the Conservative party would never gain power again Saying "someone'' is like saying "a lot of people" Quote:A lot of people are fucking stupid. (George Carlin) A change of voting system will making no difference to whom is is in power. The only things which guarantee control by one party are Jerrymanders and dictatorships. The same pattern will continue:The Tories will be in most of the time. Occasionally Labour will be elected to address the worst excesses of Tory rule and introduce the odd reform in health, education, and Welfare. Labour will then proceed to make a pig's breakfast of the economy and piss people off. Tories get voted back in to clean up the mess. Eventually they become arrogant, overestimate the bovine stupidity of the electorate and introduce something which really pisses people off, like a poll tax for example------- No single party is 'best' for the country long term that I have ever noticed. There is no political ideology which has all the answers, even when there is a real choice.Today the choice is between varying degrees of conservatism. There is no effective political left in the UK,US or Australasia.
You got your mess almost sorted, I just received my voting pass for national elections in my country.
