Nope didn't miss that part. Are you implying the responding officers knew they were responding to the wrong address when they approached the house? Or are you implying that officers should just put their hands up and get down on the ground when someone fires a gun at them unexpectedly?
Yes, taking cover and assessing the situation properly should be the ideal response to hearing gunfire.

Because that's how people normally react to being shot at, when they have a more effective method of dealing with it, that they're trained to use from the get go.

Their training is part of the problem. Going for their guns first is the cause of many problems on this thread.
