Age of Empires 2 was in no way my first PC game.
However, it was and still is my favourite PC game and video game altogether - of all time. I played it online for 6 years daily. RE: PC games, first ever PC game?

Was anyone a fan of Myst when if first came out? It was years into my gaming life, but it still stands out to me.

I go Riven and played a bit, but didn't have the time to really get into it. The closest thing I played wad Zorg Nemesis, which also has a fascinating atmosphere.

First PC game was Star Wars Rebel Assault which came with my first PC. First game was probably Jet Set Willy on the Spectrum.

Age of Empires 2 is really big online again of course, because of the HD re-release and the new expansion on Steam. People are even playing big cash tournaments again. Some seem even bigger than when it came out, last I checked. I mean, wow. Can't wait to get some money together and get it! New civilizations!!! I loved that game, and I only had to cheat one time to beat it. What I really found interesting was that once you know the code that you get towards the end, you can beat the game in thirty seconds total.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
my first pc game was... A few of them in the same diskette:
Tetris Alley cat Chess master I think there were more, but those are the ones that stuck to memory. Later, I spent way too much time playing Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, or whatever the game was called: 3 different possible paths to take made it have some great replay value. In the 2d adventure type, there was Rick dangerous (1 and 2), Crystal caves... A bit later, my first keyboard and mouse game: Abuse. |
