Doesn't happen where I live. Even JWs keep to the tube stations, standing in a corner and meakly waving their watchtower. If you don't make contact, there is no contact. Religion isn't part of daily life or conversations in my country. As I keep saying, I don't even know if my brother is in any way religious.

The first one I ran into was in college.  During a dorm discussion he made reference to jesus' "writings" and I cut him off and said that jesus never wrote shit.  For all we know, "jesus" was illiterate.  He avoided me like the plague thereafter.  Which was fine with me.

I've only met one dickish theist, my brother-in-law, whom I've only seen not being a dick once, the day I first met him. Since then he's spent his time lashing out at his mother for being gay (while still happily taking her help when he was near homeless) and my wife for being an atheist. Seriously, you'd think after how much he's needed the help of his family to recover from his self destructive tendencies he'd be thankful for the support, but no, he instead just judges and judges and pushes away the very people who he'll need during his next catastrophic fall... which will be coming any day now.

This dude, by the way, recently left his church because they were emphasizing conciliation and respect for all people over telling the congregation how everyone who doesn't believe as he does will be going to hell to suffer forever. He literally left a church because it was nice, and the beliefs he'd consciously accepted depended on everyone who dared disagree with him suffering eternally. That revenge fantasy was core to his christianity, so much so that he couldn't attend a church without it. That's the sort of person he is.

I’m sure there’s a few people on here that know of my father already. He’s one of the main reasons I first came on here. I desperately needed to vent about religion, and have an escape. There was some sort of vicarious release that I had when I heard people freely talking about religion, because of the suffocating situation that I was in. He’s easily the biggest asshole of a theist that I’ve ever met.

I was heavily indoctrinated by one of the biggest assholes you could possibly imagine. It was his way or the highway. He never could do wrong, praying was more important than spending quality time with his family. The time he did spend was always ranting and raving about religion or politics. He always tried to start fights with everyone or pick on them for any little thing he could find, everyday. When I was growing up, every time I wanted to go out and play or do something, he always made sure I prayed a certain amount of time first, or prayed the rosary or whatever. I almost couldn’t even wake up and eat breakfast in the morning without him asking (demanding) me if I prayed. He’s one of the most negative, narcissistic, controlling people you’d ever meet. No matter what you do, it’s wrong. You’d try your whole life to please the man, but nothing would make him happy. No matter who you’d see or what you’re plans are, they’re always wrong. He’s the type that thinks the world is ending right around the corner, and that only catholics will be saved. He judges gay people like crazy, and thinks they’re making a choice to rebel against god. He thinks every muslim is evil, he loves FOX and thinks everything they say is truth (shocker). He thinks every democrat is a liar, and every republican is perfect. I could go on forever. Almost any negative trait you could possibly think of, would be attached to his character.

He is pretty much out of his fucking mind, but at the same time when he meets people outside of his house or outside of his family, he can be a nice person with a sense of humor. Just another reason, that he pisses me off so much. That he’s capable of being a good person, but chooses to be an absolute prick 99% of the time.

I’m glad I got away recently. I don’t need that shit in my life anymore.

Wow.  Look at all the responses saying that they've never met an asshole Theist IRL.  Wow.  Where do you guys live?  Can I move there and crash on your couch while I look for an apartment?  Wow.

I've met so many I'm having a hard time choosing between them.  Before I graduated from high school I had encountered two (Protestant, married with children) preachers who made a pass at me in their office.  (Thankfully there were people outside of the office each time, so a solid "stop!" and a threat of screaming got me out the door.)  We learned later that one of 'em had gotten nearly 1/2 of the 7th grade girls pregnant.  

There was the idiot minister who kept showing videos that "proved" the Devil recorded backwards messages in rock records.  Or the idiot minister who insisted that we pray using "thee and thou" and "sayest" and "giveth" because that was the way Jesus spoke.

Honorable mention goes to the guy handing out Bible tracts in the parking lot.  I removed the tract under my wiper blade, handed it back to him, and told him to use it on another car - "I'm an atheist".   As I was pulling out of the parking lot, he came running at my car and broke the windshield with a baseball bat, screaming something about how I was going to burn in hell.   

Oh yeah, those are just the first few to pop into my head.

A girl I went to high school with was a religious nut who just got under my skin. She was part of one of those offshoot, ultra-conservative, cult-like Christian churches. For whatever reason she decides I was going to be her "special cause" and harassed me daily with her religious BS (ya, I was pretty fucked up at that time in my life, but her crap did NOT help). This stupid bitch would call my PARENTS house at like midnight, 1, sometimes even as late as 2 am to let them know she was "praying for me" and "concerned about me". It caused massive arguments because my parents were pissed to be woken up and didn't believe I had told her to fuck off many times. She was aggressive too with her religious shit, cornering you with a pack of other cult-memebers and holding you hosting as they "prayed for you". Also very insulting, if you didn't dress think or act like them. I have never met people like the members of that particular church.

I was given the 'option' to transfer instead of having an expulsion on my record from the college prep school I was at towards the end of my sophomore year, so I ended up going to the public high school and didn't see or hear from her again. About 5 years ago, I ran into her at a grocery store and holy fuck! She looked like she'd aged about 20 years. Numerous kids (at about 22/23), and a husband who just looked like one of those ultra-controlling dickwad religious men who probably viewed her as his property. If I believed in such things as karma, I'd say it caught up to her in a big way. I tried to pretend I didn't see her, but she came running over and said "I thought you would be dead, but it looks like you were saved by Jesus!". No, bitch, I just grew up and pulled my life together, no prayer or Jesus crap necessary. I now live in another state, don't visit my family and genuinely hope I never see her again.

It's been a very long time, but back in college, there was one campus preacher who was a complete prick and went around screaming at people and calling them names and all that.  My wife said that there was a theist who specifically took classes  that she knew she'd hate so she could yell at the professors and pretend to be oppressed for her beliefs.  Other than that, I haven't met any, but I don't spend any time with theists, at least not active and vocal theists, in the real world anyhow.
