Mine has to be Robin Williams he just cracks me up everytime. They took his stand up off youtube because of swearing but he was very very very funny.!!

I think of all the comedians my favorite has to be George Carlin. His wit and word play were always entertaining.Robin Williams is also one of my favorites as well he is always funny, even on a talk show when he is doing straight up improv.

Definitely George Carlin. I like a lot of Bill Hicks' stuff, but he's a little intense sometimes.
I like Mitch Hedberg as well, he never fails to crack me up.

(This post was last modified: September 29, 2008 at 6:31 pm by Edwardo Piet.)
My favourite comedians ever in no particular order, for sitcoms and/or movies are: The stars of the (UK version) of Red Dwarf.....although all of them aren't comedians but they're funny anyway.
Rik Mayall, Adrian Edmondson, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carrey, Mike Myers. (and some others but I can't think off the top of my head.)
My favourite stand up Comedian is Ross noble. Some other favourites are: Lee Evans, Bill Bailey, Bill Hicks, and plenty of others I just can't currently think of.
Praise for Ross Noble: "The supreme master of spontaneous stand-up and the most exciting comic in the country." Time Out, London
"The most brilliant stand-up of his generation." Sunday Telegraph
"There's a rare and heady energy to Noble that puts other comedians to shame." THE AGE
"Refreshing, original, and bloody funny." The Age, Melbourne
"His first act last night was one of the most brilliant hours I have ever spent in a theatre… and the second even better." Daily Mail
"All good comics are adept at weaving the odd heckler or late-comer into a stream of material. But I have never before seen anyone create an entire first half - about 50 minutes - from rapport with a couple of customers in the front stalls." Daily Mail
"One of the most amazing things about English comic Noble, now rising to the very top ranks, is the way his show starts as though it's already been going for hours. We go from cold to hot in seconds, laughing like hyenas clinging onto Noble's comedy super-train." Sydney Morning Herald
Hope I didn't go overboard with the quotes! lol.
Edit: OMG I can't believe I forgot to mention two comedians who are amongst my very favourites: Hugh Laurie(House) and Stephen Fry(Qi).
My favourite sketch show by far is certainly A Bit of Fry and Laurie.
My second favourite sketch show is probably: that Mitchell and Webb Look. Incidentally; I also forgot to mention that David Mitchell and Robert Webb are amongst some of my favourite comedians. And along with Ross Noble they are amongst my favourite modern comedians. Peep Show is not my favourite Sitcom but it is certainlly ONE of my favourite Sitcoms. Peep show is my favourite modern, or 'new' Sitcom.
My three favourite Sitcoms of all time, that I like all equally for different reasons, are: Bottom, Red Dwarf and Blackadder.
I also really like Mr Bean - but not the cartoons.
PS: Alexei Sayle can be really funny, he's not always consist and I think I prefer the comments he makes on his shows (as himself) to his actual sketches in the shows; although they still usually rock. I have only watched his first series - Alexei Sayle's: Stuff - all the way through and thats the only series of his my family owns.
PPS: Lewis Black rules! I'm watching some more Lewis Black lately.
