Growing up in America sex was a taboo and dirty thing until marriage. So until then you were supposed to just wonder what it was like. at least as far as the christian idea went. However most people with the title of "christian" damn well didn't follow that.

I recall reading an interview with someone that was producing gay male films in the 70s. It was rather interesting as the various laws and community standards changed how the gay adult film industry responded.

It wasn't immediately obvious what would sell, what wouldn't, what might be OK everywhere, and what might garner some trouble in certain states/municipalities.
