GC Unless, of course, your God has a moral conscience and rewards sincere disbelief that is arrived at following a will to acquire knowledge and make as much of a maximally informed decision as is humanly possible about the truth of his existence (which Dawkins' writings happily encourage), and punishes those who blindly commit to faith on the basis of ill-advised intentions. If that's the case, it is you who might have cause for concern...

If God actually wants to spend his time in heaven with rational thinkers, and so is deliberately leaving no solid evidence of his existence to see who will make up stories about him and worship imaginary versions of him, and will punish those that do, then atheists win. We go to heaven, religious people go to hell.
So this idea that you're not losing anything by believing (or pretending to believe) just isn't true, huh?

The BIG if.
That's life, bitch.
Nothing is certain.
You cannot know for certain what will happen in your life one moment from reading this.
The fact that there exists these religions that claim to know what is beyond with no evidence to back up their claims is the true problem.
Living life is the true freedom, the true meaning of life.
Anyone can make all sorts of reasons why life cannot be enjoyed, which seems to always be the religious way of life.

As I pointed out in the other thread, to which you replied, a God which punishes nonbelievers with eternal torture is not one whom a rational and honorable person would choose to worship. If your God is what you claim, then he is a monster and I thank Dawkins for his work in showing what a monstrous claim is being made by the Christian sects. Thankfully, it is clear that your imaginary friend is imaginary, since his values dovetail so amazingly with the desires/culture/prejudices/ignorances of the priests of one particular Bronze Age desert tribal sheepherder-warrior people.
I prefer to think of it in terms of Thomas Jefferson's admonishment to his nephew Peter Carr in 1787:
"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear."
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

To put these accusations towards God, that he will punish you just for not believing at face value a story book that is really popular, is about the most disgusting insult I can think of towards any potential actual God.
Luckily for you, the actual God isn't going to be so petty as to slap you about forever as revenge. In fact, he probably hasn't even paid any attention to anything happening around here.

Then it's a damn good thing, that you're not, isn't it?

The assumption that God has a plan rather renders nugatory my own free will. After all, I am playing my part in it, no? How does going along with his plan merit the punishment of Hell?
Christians assert that God created me. Christians assert that he knows my every decision, well before I've made it -- indeed, well before I was born at all.
What cause has he for complaint?
