CNN Democratic Debate

If it were as liberal as they were claiming, they'd have it taken off the air. I can only imagine if there were actually a liberal version of Fox News. They've been able to paint socialism as bad by equating it to the Nazis, to Communism, to North Korea. It's why they're so against public education. People could learn something that goes against what they consider to be "American".

Luckily the media doesn't vote, and it's votes that count. As long as Bernie is in the debates, people will get an uncensored view of him. The media can try and distort the race as much as they want, but I think its the debates that will cement him in the public's mind.

I mean, just look at the figures he's boasting now. He raised $1.3 million in donations in the 4 hours after the debate; that's likely all from new supporters. During the debate itself, Sanders gained over 35,000 new followers on Twitter, which is more than all the other four candidates combined, and then some.

As a libertarian, a "socialist" isn't really the ideal candidate to support, but looking at the bigger picture, he's the only reasonable candidate in the fray. Besides, as an immigrant from the UK and the EU, where socialist countries actually exist, the kind of socialism practiced by Sanders is a very Americanized version.

RE: CNN Democratic Debate
Here is an interesting article that some of you might want to read:

Quote:Did Hillary Clinton "Win" the Debate?

A little secret of political journalism is that the vast majority of it is just some jerk’s opinion, which has a scientific value roughly equal to your own idiot opinion.

Take last night’s Democratic presidential debate, for example. The immediate post-debate narrative across virtually the entire mainstream media has been that Hillary Clinton “won” the debate. The New York Times slobbered over her “sure-footed performance” and “crisp answers to nearly every question.” Similarly, the Washington Post praised her “self-assured performance” and declared that she “dominated the debate.” Slate says that “Hillary Clinton Won the CNN Debate With a Surprisingly Spectacular Performance.” New York Magazine’s Jonathan Chait said that Hillary was “the best candidate onstage” and her performance was a “triumph.” CNN itself, the host of the debate, declared Hillary the official “Winner,” with Bernie Sanders’ performance labeled “Unclear” and the others on stage labeled “Losers.”

...

A bit later in the article:

Quote:...

So: where is all of this evidence that Hillary Clinton “won” the debate last night? It is.. nowhere, as far as I can tell. The only real sort of evidence that a candidate won or lost a debate would be a bunch of statistically significant quality polls showing clear, strong voter sentiment that a single candidate “won.” Is that what the mainstream media is touting here? No. Not even numbers factory Vox could come up with a single such poll in their debate explainer. There were several large online polls, which are a fairly degraded form of data that can end up measuring enthusiasm of a candidate’s base more than actual total voter preference. But to the extent those online polls have any value, Bernie Sanders won 68% in the MSNBC.com poll; Bernie Sanders won 55% in the Daily Kos poll; Bernie Sanders won 54% in the Time.com poll; and Bernie Sanders overwhelmingly won CNN’s own Facebook poll, not that you would know it from what the pundits were saying on CNN itself. CNN’s own focus group also said that Bernie Sanders won, and Fusion’s focus group said that Bernie Sanders won, and Fox News’ focus group said that Bernie Sanders won.

RE: CNN Democratic Debate
I know I am new here and I am not jumping anyone. Text does sound that way sometimes so I wanted to be clear.

I hear all the time "I am a fan of Bernie but I don't see him winning". I will say that when I jumped on the Bernie train I felt the same way. He was this fringe candidate who didn't have a chance in h***. He now brings in 29,000 people to rally's, won almost all the focus groups and even took almost half of HC's supporters in one of the focus groups during the debate (which was the first time his ideas were heard nationally by the way). I have stopped believing he can't win. If everyone that likes him actually casts a vote for him, he has this election. He is also the only one that beats the top Republican's in the polls. Hillary loses or is tied to them all.

I am from the south and have spent the last few years being afraid to say that I am not a theist. I just went along to keep the peace. I am not doing that anymore. I am going to be authentic in everything, that includes where I cast my vote. I have to live with it. If we all do that we might actually get the world we desire

As to the Hillary being progressive. That is how she came across in the debate but just two weeks ago she stated that she was a moderate while at a rally. That is the problem I have with her. I can't believe her.

The debate forum was fantastic. I would love to see a Republican debate like this. I want everyone to tell me their views instead of just slinging mud

RE: CNN Democratic Debate
I agree that Bernie can win. He's ahead of Hillary in the polls in some places, and while Clinton has raised 33 million dollars, Bernie has raised 27.1 million. Those numbers show that he's got a lot of support.

I don't use any social media, but a friend of mine says that Bernie is killing it there. He's waging a modern campaign and has the ability to reach a lot of voters that Hillary cannot. I think part of the reason Hillary seems so dominant is that the mainstream media is making it look that way. For whatever reason, they're focusing a lot on her. They even gave her credit for winning the debate when the public reaction indicated that Bernie won.

Hillary was to be the candiate without question. It was to be a coronation. Heck, the head of the DNC was the head of her campaign in 08, hence the reason they party tried their hardest to ignore Bernie.

The problem is that the people didn't allow it. We are sick of politics as usual. I, for one, no longer care about labels. I want someone who believes in what I do. I want someone who says "we need campaign finance reform" and then proves they mean it by not having PACs. I want someone who hasn't been bought and paid for because I know they won't be. I want someone who thinks about how much debt my daughter is acquiring in college and our seniors are losing. Someone that understands that when the minimum wage was set up it was to be a living wage and it isn't now. I just want someone on our side not GE's side or, CITIbank's or... You get the idea. Call himself what he will. I want someone from the Warren side of the party and Bernie is there.

We are basically a form of a socialist country now. Social Security, Medicare, Fire Dept, Police Dept. We simply don't want to think of it that way. What we want to look at is how we deal with business. Ok, fine. first off, Bernie is not a Socialist in the traditional sense of the word. he is a Democratic Socialist. That is a " horse of a different color" as we say down here:). He wants to protect small and medium size businesses and not gigantic corps. I, for one, can go for that considering that I worked in the lending world before and during the crash. I know what they did. They saw the collapse coming for over a year and the big wigs made a lot of money while the average American lost their shirt and then we covered their butt so they could stay in business. They wouldn't have done it for you or I. We can't let the "he can't win" be a self fulfilling prophesy. We can't let the media make our decision for us.

Most people don't vote although they are registered.  They simply don't give a rat's ass about who is in office or what they do or don't do for or to them.

RE: CNN Democratic Debate
This is the first election where I plan to reregister as Democrat so I can vote for Sanders in the Primaries, so I can at least say I did my part. Though the sad thing is thanks to the EC Kansas will be given to the Republican Candidate in the General Election regardless of what I do.

I personally believe that if they don't take the time to cast a vote they don't have the right to complain

I wish Sanders would win,its shameful the way the main stream media never even addressed the problem with them declaring Hillary the winner even though the polls showed him destroying her
